I am having trouble writing the proper shortcode for a custom question and answer to appear in my email templates.
I have Esspresso 4.? and here are the shortcodes I have tried and failed on.

[PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_facility-name]
[ANSWER_facility]
[QUESTION_LIST]
[QUESTION]
[ANSWER]
[RECIPIENT_ANSWER_* Facility Name]

Here is a screen shot of my question…

What am I doing wrong?

Hi there,

Where exactly are you using the shortcodes?

It most likely will either be:

[RECIPIENT_ANSWER_*Facility Name]
or
[PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_*Facility Name]

Depending on exactly where you are using the shortcode.

It could also possibly be [ANSWER_*Facility Name] within the ATTENDEE_LIST section.

Post a screenshot of where you are adding the shrotcode and we should be able to help

I am trying to use them in the Payment Received email template. Which is available under editing each event.

Is the payment received the default email that is sent to the admin and user who registers?

Hello,

That would be this shortcode:

[PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_*]

…where you would use the exact text for the question. For example, if this was the question:

What is your favorite food?

…then this would be the exact shortcode:

[PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_*What is your favorite food?]

If you are not sure about the question text, then you can check it through Event Espresso –> Registration –> Questions and then look at the question name.

Also, your support license for your site has expired so you’ll no longer be able to update. You can purchase a new support license through this link:

Thanks for the response.

I have inserted what I think is correct but nothing appears in test email for that new question.

I have attached a screen shot of the created question and the short code in place.

Can you verify if this looks correct please?

It looks correct, but you probably won’t see anything in a test email. You’ll need to do a registration and answer the question to check the output.
