I’ve got several issues I need help with: Background: Our client offers a lot of continuing education events. At this point, their events are ALL free. The typical event consists of them registering online, then the registration goes into a pending status and Sue is notified. Once she is notified, she checks to see that the company is a member in good standing and then either approves or denies their registration. She would like for the registration to get an email when they register that says that their registration has been submitted and is under review. Once she approves or denies a registration, she would like for the registrant to get an email. Overview of Issues: I think #3 might be part of the problem with all this. I’m not sure why it won’t auto update. WP – should be up to date Thanks for any help you can give. |
Hi David, I can get to work on resetting the license key and troubleshooting the email issue. The issue with the key is happening because the same key had been set on cfw-s.com earlier this year. In EE4, there’s been a simplification to the default registration status. If you go to Event Espresso > Events > Default Settings you’ll see that I’ve changed it to be “Not Approved”. This setting allows you to preselect what the default registration status setting is when creating an event. Note that changing this setting does NOT retroactively apply it to existing events. |

So, are replacing “Pending Registration” with “Pending Payment” ? Since our events are free, how would this work? (thanks for resetting the key, should auto updates happen…automatically now?) |
I think you mean replace “Pending Approval” with “Not Approved”. Updates need to be opted into, we recommend making a backup of the database, then the updates get started with the 1-click update feature from the WP plugins page. Please see https://eventespresso.com/wiki/updating-event-espresso/ for more info. |

Hi David, I sent a few Registrations require approval messages from your site and they landed in my inbox as expected. Have you checked the spam folder of the email address you’re trying to send them to? I also installed an email log plugin on your site and it shows that the test message I sent to your email was sent. Can you check? |

I’m sorry, I was out of the office for a few days. I’d like to track this down. I’ve moved the registration to a subdomain (moving hosting soon). Could you register here? http://smartstartfc.wpengine.com/events/test-2/ I’ve got pending payment set as the default and just did a registration myself and it automatically went to approved. I got the received your registration email and the approved registration. Really getting frustrated. |
Hi David, I’m sorry you’re getting frustrated. I might be able to help clear things up a bit. When you set the default to “Pending Payment” and it’s a free event (like the one you linked to) it will automatically be approved because no payments are required for tickets that cost $0.00. This is why I set the default status to “Not Approved” on the other site. So to sum things up: If you offer free events and want to approve registrations manually we offer the “Not Approved” default status. “Pending Payment” should only be used for paid events. |

I’m still not getting the approved email. Not sure what is going on. Also, is there a way to change the following? It is confusing for those registering to see “not approved” (reg. status). Is there any way we can change this to say “approval pending” ? We are also having issues with the registration being randomly unavailable. We are getting this error: “There are no events in your queue” |
Hi David, Text strings like “Not Approved” can be changed by using a translation function. Here’s a link to our documentation that includes sample code you can use: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-change-wording-with-poedit/#custom-function With the other issues you are having, if this is on a WPEngine site, you’ll need to open a support ticket with them and ask them to disable caching for the registration checkout page, as well as the pages that display the transaction information. (or you have any other caching going on with another server, this too will need to be disabled for the Event Espresso checkout pages.) |
