Set featured image height

Hi
Hopefully somebody can help with this. We use a widget to display events on our homepage. The homepage shows 3 events side by side. We would like to be able to add a featured image to event and when displayed on the homepage they are all of equal height. At the moment we have to set the image dimensions manually. Is it possible to define this in the css?
