Been on EE 3.x for years. Been working well until last 30 days. Run all WP and plug-in updates. I read other support tickets, but none fixed my issue.

A user signs up for a class, transfers to PayPal, money is received, but they are marked as Incomplete in the registration. This complicates life as it currently shows 0/7 signed up even though we have 2 already registered.

Using WP 4.2.1
EE 3.1.37.2.P
Checked IPN setup in PayPal, it is set correct.
IPNs in PayPal say sent.
Reviewed PAYPAL.IPN_Results.log-appears to work, but hard to read.

Not sure on next step to try.

Hi Scott,

Can you check to see if this is happening for all events, or only some of the events? This will help us to narrow down what’s causing the sudden breakage.

It appears to be all events and all registrations.

Hi Scott,

This looks like it’s another effect of the recent security fix that was rolled out into WP 4.2.1, 4.1.4, 4.0.4, and so on. What I’ve found so far while investigating this issue is if there’s a special character like ® in the event name, the PayPal notification doesn’t update the payment on EE’s side. Since most of your events include a ® in the event name, you could try removing those as a possible temporary solution while we work this out.

Hi Scott,

You can also update to Event Espresso 3.1.37.3.p. It includes a fix for when PayPal IPN is not completing the event payment status under certain conditions.
