Registration Payment over the phone & error

We have some attendees who register and then call through at a later time to pay over the phone. Previously I had gone into Messages, found their Registration Pending Payment message and click the link for “click here to view your registration, download your invoice and make a payment”. I am trying to this for a particular registrant but I’m getting an error
“The following errors have occurred:
Your Registration and Transaction information could not be retrieved from the db.
Your Registration and Transaction information could not be retrieved from the db.”
Not sure how to troubleshoot this and if i’m getting the error just because of how i’m accessing the message, or because there is a problem in the template.

Is there another way to put a credit card payment through on behalf of a registrant?

Hi,

The error is likely related to a session issue where the original transaction was overwritten by another transaction because the session did not clear.

Here’s how to avoid the error by 1) ensuring the session is cleared between adding transactions and 2) using another link to put in a credit card payment:

1) You go to yoursite.net.au/registration-cancelled/ to make sure the session is cleared
2) Go to the Event Espresso admin dashboard and add the attendee as you normally would
3) After adding the registration, go to Event Espresso → Transactions where the new transaction should be the first in the list, you’ll click the money icon to make the payment on the front end
4) Before you add more registrations via the admin, be sure to visit the yoursite.net.au/registration-cancelled/ page and avoid hitting the back button to navigate back to a previous page after following the above steps

Hi Josh,

Thank you for the reply. I’m not sure what you mean by ensuring the session is cleared. We are not adding the registration ourselves through EE4, the attendee is doing this via the front end, choosing their ticket etc. They then select Invoice as the payment type as they generally part of a school which in AUS requires an invoice first. We are then having the school ring us to pay over the phone by a credit card.
I’ve actually had an email from a completely different registrant, who tried to use the link within the message template to click and pay their invoice, and it gave them the same error.
We did find the money icon which is great and lets us process payment on their behalf but doesn’t help us where participants are getting the error when they click the link within the email message.

Oh I see, I’m sorry, I misread what you wrote.

So this type of error, where their registration is lost, happens when there’s caching. I checked your site and I can see that W3 Total Cache is activated. W3 Total Cache must be configured correctly to avoid errors like this.
