I went to register today as I have for the last 4 years or so, and something isn’t right. Normally when I register (and not pay) they are added into the backend as incomplete – which is what I wanted – however nothing showed up. So I put paypal in dev/sandbox mode and went through the motions and got an error at paypal that I couldn’t register and my registration was cancelled. This has never happened before.
I have reg setup the same way I have as always, not sure what’s changed. I updated the plugin to the newest version: Version 3.1.37.13.P, and WordPress is at 4.9.6 but it didn’t solve the issue.
I was just about to do that, and i noticed there were two events open, when there should have been one. Not sure how it was duplicated but the “active” one is hidden from the menu at first, so I was looking at the one no one was signing up for….

When you switched to Sandbox mode in the Event Espresso > Payments > PayPal settings, did you also change the PayPal ID field? If it’s in sandbox mode the PayPal ID needs to point to a PayPal sandbox account.
With regards to the emails, if you go to Event Espresso > General Settings, under Email Settings, what’s set for “Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?”
It’s not a new setting, but it may have gotten changed somewhere along the way.
When you land on PayPal’s site what’s the exact error message you’re seeing?
