Hi I have looked into this issue in previous topics but can’t find exactly the same issues. Essentially I’ve tested the event espresso form using my own email but when I update it to go to my clients email they don’t receive anything in test bookings. I.e. their email is ****@enablingchange.co.uk and their domain name is http://enablingchange.co.uk/ and that’s when issues seem to happen.

I’m not in control of their email but is there something I need to ask the email controllers to change in the settinsg so that email is received?

I have used the log email wordpress plugin and can see that the emails are being sent, but just have had reports that they’re not being received.

I have the same issue with custom contact forms plugin.

This makes me think there is little point in using an smtp mail plugin if the issue is the email not being received rather than not being sent – would this be correct?

WordPress version: 3.7.1.
EE version:3.1.36.1.p

Best Wishes

Jess

Hi Jessica,

It does sound like a server issue more than anything.

I tested it by creating an email for a live test website and applying the email throughout WP, EE and the registration process.

The server picked up the admin notification and the attendee registration emails, so that says to me it should be irrelevant that the email address being used is from the same domain name.

So, I would speak to the email controllers on the matter to see if they are aware why the email wouldn’t go through – I would also check to see if the email is stuck on the server.

As a follow up – someone registered this morning for two places on a course and they didn’t receive email notifications and I didn’t receive admin notifications but according to wp email log all emails were sent correctly. What does this indicate? this may technically be a whole new issue but appears related which is why I’m keeping it in the same query.

Hi Jessica,

It may be the same issue. What can happen is the emails are sent, but if the IP address where it’s being sent from has been blacklisted, then they will not be received at the other end. Using a SMTP plugin with an SMTP account (like gmail) may help since the emails would end up being sent via a different IP address.

Another strategy would be to use an transactional email service like Postmarkapp or Mandril. We have a plugin that will integrate a WP install with either service:
