I tried using custom email messages for event registration and got the error “An error has occurred: Something went wrong and the message for this registration was NOT resent”. Attempting to resend registration emails got the same response. I tried the following, without success: I also verified that the custom emails were attached to the event and created for all recipients (registrant, primary registrant, event manager) in email format. No emails were received at any account. Please advise! |
Hi Toni, That can occur if the some recipients have been turned off (appears greyed out). Could you check on the Registration approved message type in Event Espresso –> Messages: — |

None are grayed out. https://goo.gl/Fe7G1T |
Hi, could you confirm that the default registration message type is also enabled? Your screenshot appears to be for a custom template. — |

Oh, gotcha. https://goo.gl/ehk1rQ |
Hi Toni, Can you make sure that what’s set in the To: field of those messages are valid? They need to be sent To: an email address. |
|
|
Both the default and custom registration approved emails are to: [EVENT_AUTHOR_FORMATTED_EMAIL], [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_EMAIL], or [RECIPIENT_EMAIL] |
Hi Toni, Those shortcodes look correct. Are you experiencing issues with any other emails from Event Espresso? Also, how are the emails being sent? Is this through a local mail server or a transactional email service like Mandrill or Postmark App? — |

The Email seetings page says “This messenger delivers messages via email using the built-in wp_mail function included with WordPress”. The emails were sending fine before. The test send function has also stopped working. |
Hi, could you try setting up this check email plugin and sending a test email to yourself or a colleague? https://wordpress.org/plugins/check-email/ Please let us know if that email goes through as expected. — |

This test email proves that your WordPress installation at https://online-dev.stlcc.edu/nextversion can send emails.\n\nSent: Wed, 16 Dec 2015 14:56:42 +0000 |

Please note, the site is sandboxed. I can provide access via Skype. |
Thanks. Event Espresso doesn’t restrict any emails so those should be going out. Could you go to Event Espresso –> Messages? Then turn the Messages system off and then back on. Next, please try a test registration for any event and let us know if those emails are received. — |

1. Off: Email messenger has been successfully deactivated |
Hi, I had another look at an earlier support post and you mentioned that this was working and now it isn’t. Event Espresso does not send out its own emails so something likely changed in the local email server. I also don’t think this is something that we changed on our end. Otherwise we would be receiving many reports. Could you follow up with an IT professional that setup the server that is running the WordPress install to see if something is being blocked? Otherwise, please try a transactional email service which will take over sending emails for your site: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/postmark-app-mandrill-transactional-email-handling-services/ — |

It looks like the issue was caused by my sandboxed site trying to send emails to gmail. Thanks for your help! |
