EE3. I’m using the recurring event feature in Event Overview for a class. The user can choose any of the upcoming classes to register for, not just the next one. But when I receive my PayPal notifications, I am only told they registered for a class, not which one. Is there a way to include which date they choose? |
Hi Suzanne, Although the Paypal Payment Notification from Paypal does not contain the date, you should also receive an admin email from Event Espresso with details of the registration. This email should contain the Event Name, Ticket Type and Date of the event. It should look something like this http://take.ms/EG5o9 Are you not also receiving those to your admin email? |
No I am not. Where do I set that up? |
You should not need to set up the admin emails, they are a part of EE core. The emails are sent to the email address within Event Espresso -> General Settings. Organization Settings. ‘Primary contact email’. Check the correct Admin email address is within there. Or within each event, in the event options, there is also an Alternative Email Address Field – http://take.ms/V2hTy That sets the email address on a per event basis. Are your attendees receiving a registration email? The site linked to your license does not appear to be active currently so I can’t test this myself. |
The admin address is correct but we are not receiving Registration . I would prefer that this functionality works as I’d rather not have to type in an alternate for all events. I do believe our registrants ARE receiving confirmation emails. My site is active…do I need to do something to my license? |
Sorry to explain more, this is not a fix if one doesn’t work, but rather if you wanted a single events admin email to go to another admin as well as the main one within ‘Primary contact email’. I have reset your license key, if you go to Event Espresso -> General Settings. Remove the key (cut), save the options, replace the key (paste) and save the settings once more. That will link your license to the correct address. I’ll then run a test registration to confirm. |
Thanks. I reset it. |
Quick question within Event Espresso -> General Settings. Under Email Settings. Is ‘Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?’ set to No? I registered onto a ‘Master Class’ with the name ‘TonyEETest’ can you view the attendees for that event and click the Resend Confirmation Email icon within my registration please? http://take.ms/dLNr6 |
Yes, I have ‘Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received?’ set to No–I don;t want people to think they can pay later. I resent you the Confirmation Email per your instructions. |
Thank you. Have any modifications been made to Event Espresso core files/functions? Is it possible for you to provide temporary log in details for us to investigate this further? |
Forgot to include this in previous post… If you can provide log in details, please use this form: |
I don’t not believe we have modified anything in the core files/functions. |

Hi Suzanne, I’ve had a look at the Event Espresso setting and can’t see any reason for the emails not to send, however if you go to Event Espresso -> System Status. You’ll notice two errors, one regarding WP_Memory_Limit with a link on how to fix (simply editing your wp-config.php file) The other advising that the PHP Session save path is not correctly set up (well actually does not exist), for this you will need to contact your host to have fixed, session issues could potentially cause email issue with Event Espresso. |
OK. I will take a look at both of those. I appreciate your help. |
Hi Suzanne, Were you able to get in touch with your host regarding the session save path? — |
Lorenzo, I am working on that now. I am also having a problem with people being able to register without payment. Is there a setting to not allow registration without payment? We already have “Send registration confirmation emails before payment is received set to No” e. Once that is fixed, I need to ensure that we can receive the Registration Summary that Tony spoke of AND ensure that |
Hello, If there is a problem with the session, then registrations won’t be properly recorded. They will actually be recorded whether a payment is made or not. The setting that you mentioned is used for counting registrations against the attendee limit. — |
If the session path issue is resolved, will they no longer be able to register without payment? |
GoDaddy doesn’t seem to know what I’m talking about…anything you can add to help me steer them to the “save session path” fix? |
OK. They did fix something on their end…is there a way I can confirm if it now works? |
This explains the issue: http://novahoward.com/resolving-php-session-save_path-problem-with-go-daddy/ — |

Hi Suzanne, Although Event Espresso allows users to register before payment is made, (by default) that registration does NOT apply to the event attendee lists/limits until payment is made. When a registration is made it is assigned the ‘status’ of Incomplete. Once a payment is made they are assigned the status of ‘Pending’ or ‘Complete’ (depending on the gateway) which then applies to the event list. So to demonstrate… here is an event with no registrations currently http://take.ms/ZT7su Now if I register onto the event, but do not pay, you’ll find something like this within the Attendee list for that event – http://take.ms/BqaaL Notice the Red !, that indicates the status is Incomplete. The attendee numbers are still 0/99999. Now I have applied a payment to that registration which sets the status to Complete – http://take.ms/MgfXr Looking back at the attendee list the status is a green tick, indicating the status is Complete. Now if we look back at the Event attendee limits again, we can see the attendee now applies to the event – http://take.ms/HCJCW So although the user has registered, that registration is ignored. Currently there is no way to prevent users registering onto the event before payment although, as shown above they do no apply to the event until payment is made. The setting you mentioned previous stops EE sending out registration confirmation emails BEFORE payment is complete. |
The System Status now says “Session save path /tmp is writable.” Does that mean its fixed or that I need to follow the steps outlined in the link you sent? |
Hi Suzanne, You can confirm that the host’s fix solved the issue testing a registration. Here is a link to your other thread that answers the same question that was asked at the beginning of this thread: https://eventespresso.com/topic/can-paypal-notification-include-event-date/ |
