First off congratulations on ee4. This looks like it will be amazing. It is offering several features I have been looking for everywhere. I see that ee4 is for sale or you can purchase ee3 and have access to 4. So my questions are: I am really excited about this release. Thanks |
Hi Shaun, I’ll follow up with each of your questions below: > -Am I better off just going straight to 4? It depends on what features you need. > -It looks like 4 has all the add ons activated is that correct? It turns out it has none of the add-ons that ee3 has available yet. We’ll be working on porting the calendar add-on first, and others will follow that. > – if you start with three, would you eventually just have to migrate to 4 soon? Yes, that’s possible because ee4 has data migration scripts built in. > -How comfortable are you with 4 in a live environment? I understand that there will be bugs and growing pains, just trying to understand the level of risk. This is the consensus that we voice in the release announcement: > We do expect you to be able to use EE4 as if it were a stable product, with the exception that additional bugs may be identified through more extensive testing with your specific use-case. I’d personally use it, but before taking it live I’d test it out for my specific use case and be sure everything works on my the server environment. |

Thanks for the quick response. As far as features The ticketing(especially the limited use),the recurring add on are the biggest ones. I am excited for the customized posts as well. When I looked at the pricing it said 49 premium add ons included. Will that be the case once you port them over? What is your timeframe on getting those completed? It is good to hear that you would use it personally. As long as add ons will be there I think I will go that route. Thanks |
Hi Shaun, Unless there’s a typo somewhere (which is certainly possible and if so, please let us know where you see it) it should say Event Espresso 4 has 49 Features (compared to Event Espresso 3’s built in 30 features). The add-ons (like ticketing and recurring events) are separate and have their own feature sets. As far as timeframe for add-on porting goes, we are not releasing a timeframe as of yet. If you need to use ticketing now, then Event Espresso 3 is the current viable option. |

Josh, Sorry ya that was my fault. I got mixed up on the terminology of features versus add ons. Sorry. Is there an ee4 test drive environment setup by any chance? Would like to compare to ,make decision. I am also trying to see on the wordpress user integration plugin, a user will have access to their events. Does this add a section to the user for “my events”? Where they would have easy access to their upcoming events that they are registered for? If yes, could we customize it, so that section would be their tickets? Thanks again. |
Hi Shaun, We don’t have a test drive site set up at this time, but we are working on it. In the meantime, I have set up a front-end example if you would like to take a look: > I am also trying to see on the wordpress user integration plugin, a user will have access to their events. Does this add a section to the user for “my events”? Yes, this does add a section for the called “my events” in the WP admin, and we also provide a shortcode to display the my events table on a front facing page of your website. > could we customize it, so that section would be their tickets? Yes, you can override a function in that add-on and customize it to your needs. |

I went through the front end demo, it all looks great. We are trying to make ee4 work right from the start. Thanks |

Hi Shaun,
It is intended to replace some if not all of recurring event manager, but it depends on your needs. For example you can create multiple multiple date/times and assign one or more tickets to each date time. So a ticket could be good for one date/time or for multiple date/times.
There is nothing planned for this. We will be updating the ticketing add on at some point (timescale unknown) to work with EE4.
Not currently.
Nothing has been decided on this yet, but it is liekly that some addons will be included in the licence types, however some addons may have to be purchased separately.
Of course, though as with EE3 we recommend only using the licence code on the live site. |

Great thanks. I am going to go ahead with EE4. Am I better off adding a support license to the lite 3 I have on site or deleting and add ee4 from scratch? I do not need all the past info as we just dabbled with it so far. I know with you are being hush hush on the timeline for ee4 add ons but can I get a broad picture? Are you thinking these add ons will be weeks, month, a year? Thanks I am excited to start working with event espresso. I am thrilled with the potential. |
Hi Shaun, I’d recommend beginning with as fresh an install as you can get. Re add-ons: It will be months, some add-ons will come sooner than others because of how many people need them or how difficult they are to build. We’re glad you’re going to use EE, we think you’ll be happy. |

Hey I just purchased, but I used another email address from paypal. It asked me to setup a new account, I did, it never sent me my new password. How can I get access to download? |
Hi Shaun, I’ve transferred your purchase from that other account to this one. Let me know if I can do anything else for you. |
