Hi there,

I have an event with zero registration and zero transaction. In both cases there are zero in the trash.

May I ask what this relates to, please?

In Reservation form > Question Groups > Questions, if I check (add) the Phone field and save, it appears to save.

Question question group are you editing?

Can you add a screenshot?

It’s not saving, even though I’ve followed the steps to delete registrations, transactions and trash, and they all show zero.

My apologies but I’m not sure how this relates to question groups?

That’s a different issue where if you create a custom question and set the type to say text, then people register onto that question you can’t then go in and change that question type to another (let’s say dropdown) as it then breaks the relationship the current registrations have to the question.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I am trying to edit the fields in the Reservation Form. Specifically, I am trying to add a phone field to the Personal Information question group and the Address Information question group. But it won’t save.

Your adding it to the Personal Info and Address Group?

Because phone number is a system question and has an expected use case, EE controls what you can do with it somewhat. It will allow you to add that question to either the Personal Information or Address Information group, not both so if already have it in Address info and then try to add it to Personal Info, on save it will uncheck from Personal Info.

The reason that happens is it is more likely you will ask for both Personal Info and Address Info at the same time so then it’s exactly the same question on the registration form.

The answer which seems to apply is “This is actually expected if there’s an answer to that question saved in the database. If those were allowed to be changed it would break the answer data.”

But I have already deleted/emptied the Registrations and Transactions and their trash which all shows zero, but still I can’t the newly added phone field to save.

See above the above is explained, but my answer there is referring to Questions, not Question Groups. You can swap and change questions within Groups even if they have answers in the database, you just can’t change a question to be something different (for example changing it from type X to type Y) if it has answers for registrations.
