promo code errors

I have a promo code setup (VIP25). It appears on the two events I want to use it on, the box is checked. I get the follow error message when I try to apply:

Sorry, promotional code VIP25 is invalid, expired, or can not be used for the event(s) you are applying it to.

In addition, I get the following weird total. Total2000170.00

What am I doing wrong?
