I read your instructions and posts on how to set up an event as a home page. It appears we have accomplished it. HOWEVER I have 3 problems 1. it will not update properly. I get a pink line across the top that says “failed to Update” and when I try to leave the page it asks if I want to leave the page. Sometimes it saves and other times it doesn’t but it always says “failed to Update” . 2. We had completed colors and themes first. With this page, all of that has disappearance except for the banner when you open the webpage. Everything else is just black and white. 3. I can see the home page on Firefox, Chrome, Explorer and Safari, however my associate can only see it on Firefox.. What settings would cause this? We wondered if this is because I was logged in on another tab and she was not logged in |
Hi, Usually if something changed isn’t updated for anyone logged out, that’s because the logged out viewer is being served a cached version of the page.
Is that the page that’s not updating? If so, that sounds like more of a general WordPress issue. Or is it the event that’s not updating?
A url or link to the page in question, would be most helpful in this case. Can you reply with a URL? |

The URL is fssdar.org/CAC/ Ther is a passcode. Since I am not supposed to put that here, how do I get the passcode to you? |
You could include that in private reply, where you check the box next to “Set as private reply” |

I also can not get the mini event cart to save properly. Somehow I managed to get two of them; I only want one and I would prefer if it were on the left like your example. When I try to change it won’t save. |

Hi,
This appears to be an issue related to the site’s hosting. If you go to the site’s Site Health page:
You can contact your host and ask them to investigate that error. It’s likely related to your page and widget settings not saving.
Anything related to a page’s colors and text being black and white would be related to the theme and/or how you add content to the page. When you edit the page, click on a block and look over to the right, you’ll see some color settings that you can change.
Your activated caching plugin, W3 Total Cache, is causing this. Until you’re ready, it will be best to deactivate caching.
I removed the second of the two mini cart widgets. See item 1 about contacting your host with regards to the failed saving issues. |

Thank you, |

I have updated the PHP to the highest go daddy had for us and reinstalled event espresso twice. I am still getting fail update on the front page where I need the event. It will save with the text, but when I add the short code, it fails to update. I am supposed to go live with this tomorrow! Do you have nay other ideas? |
Are you still getting the “The REST API request failed due to an error. More details about that error can be found here: If your host cannot fix this, then you could switch to one of the recommended hosts: |
|
|
I tried to save the short code to a post also, I still get failed publish and failed update. |
|
I’m sorry, the only message I get is “fail to publish” and “Fail to update” |
|
I am using WordPress 5.2.1 and PHP Version: 5.6.27 they are both within the limits you just indicated |
You really need to contact your host about this. A page/post that isn’t saving is not an issue that we can help you with. It’s simply not an issue with Event Espresso. It’s a hosting issue. Again, you’ll find the underlying error on the Tool > Site Health page of your WordPress dashboard. The PHP version and WordPress version in this case is irrelevant. The important thing that needs to be communicated to your host is that your site’s Tools > Site Health page shows “The REST API request failed due to an error”. |

If you domain remains the same throughout, then no. If the domain changes, even to a temporary domain before the switchover, then yes but note that the license key is used for support and one-click updates, nothing else. So even if the license key needs to be reset it will not affect the functionality of your site, other than you won’t be able to update the plugin until it has been reset.
I’m not really sure if it is what you are looking for, but we have EventSmart which you can use to host the event.
EE events and registrations are custom post types stored in the wp posts table with our own additional data stored in custom types, a hybrid custom post type of sorts and as such you can not easily more events/registrations from one site to another.
May I ask why? If you close the registrations on the Primary site, put up a maintenance page, migrate over to the new site and switch over it should work as is. Unless I’m missing something obvious above? |
