Hello,

The problem on the following page is still not fixed.

https://eventespresso.com/topic/problem-with-paypal-payment-processing/

Sometimes the payment goes through and sometimes it doesn’t. It was working fine a month ago, but now it isn’t. Btw, I also updated [ESPRESSO_TXN_PAGE] page with the new transaction file.

Hi Meg,

It looks like you moved the revised transaction template file into place. Did you check the IPN to ensure its setup correctly?

Hi Meg,

Generally if the thank-you page shows ‘Incomplete’, yet the registration itself shows ‘Complete’ this is due to a delay with PayPal sending the IPN to your site.

Installing the transaction page template reduces any latency issues with your site loading that page meaning that once the IPN is sent, your site can process it as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately if PayPal do not send the IPN until after your customer has been redirected back to your site, the Thank-you page will show Incomplete.

Something we are noticing become more common with Paypal is delays in the IPN’s being sent. So as an example this is what should happen:

1. User registers on your event and is directed to Paypal.
2. The user than Pays via Paypal
3. **At this point an IPN should be sent to your site from PayPal to update the payment status**
4. The user is then directed back to your site and the Thank you page loads showing the status.

However what is becoming increasingly common is to for points 3 and 4 to switch. So the user is directed back to your site, the thank you page loads showing Incomplete. Then PayPal (finally) send the IPN to your site, EE updates the payment status but as the user has already loaded the thank-you page, they still see Incomplete (unless they refresh the page)

If the registrations are not being updated for long periods of time after payment has been made it may be worth contacting PayPal to check if they can change anything their end.

Hi Meg,

Here’s a quick guide on setting up IPN in PayPal https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-set-up-paypal-ipn/

What is the notify_url for events espresso?
I found out that I’m using more than 2 applications on my website which uses paypal. I’m trying to redirect the correct IPN to associated application, but I need the notify_URL so that I can set up the redirection.

From Paypal the IPN is sent to example.com/transactions/

Am I right?

Yes, but you should update that URL to your actual site URL.
