Strange issue is occurring where the price of the event does not seem to be recorded properly. The event price can be seen on the event description, but when I manually go to add an attendee to an event (we are only doing manual registrations) and I input the amount paid, the user payment page always shows the ticket price as $0 and the amount paid as $0.

Also, in the emails to registrants, the price always shows C$0.00.

All my events have prices entered for them, so I don’t understand why this is happening. Help!

I can give you login info to the site (it’s under development and requires login), just let me know where to send it.

Hi Vanessa,

What version of Event Espresso are you using? What plugins are you using?

You can go to Event Espresso > System Status > click Generate Report > copy and paste that text here

Also want to note that when I go to the “Edit Attendee Data” page, everywhere that displays the price of the ticket is $0.00, even though the event has a price entered for it. However, under “Attendee Ticket Fee” box on this page, if I enter the ticket price again, then it seems to record the ticket price. But when I go to the “Edit Attendee Payment Records” page, and I go to edit the “Enter New Payment Amount” field, it again doesn’t record the amount entered as the “Total Amount Paid to Date” does not update with the new paid amount.

I did edit a few templates and had them in the Uploads folder, but I removed those to test whether the template were messing it up. But that did not solve the issue.

I also deactivated all my plugins and created some new events to test and same thing, the price is not recording properly.

I also just noticed that when I go to enter a new payment on the “Edit Attendee Payment Record” page, an error message pops up saying “You Must Enter a Transaction ID when making a payment”. What does this mean?

Hi Vanessa,

It is odd that the prices are set as zero, I cannot replicate that. It is possible that because you are not adding a Transaction ID the price is not saving and if you have only just seen the message it may explain the previous confusion.

The transaction id can be anything but it is required for a manual price change. If you are not using it from a business standpoint it does not need to be unique.

This is definitely a bug. I installed a fresh copy of WordPress 3.5.1 and then installed a fresh copy of EE 3.1.33. I created an event, entered in a price of $30.00. I then went to add an attendee to that event manually as an admin. In the “Amount Paid” field, I put $15.00. The attendee is added successfully, however the payment for the attendee is labeled as complete even when it is not. I then go into that attendee to edit the attendee payment. I see under “Attendee Ticket Fees”, the Amount of the ticket is now $15.00, NOT $30.00 as it should be. The “Total Amount Owing” says $0.00, not $15.00, which it should be.

So I go to “View/Edit Payment” and I see in the Total Amount Owing” it says $-15.00, and the “Total Amount Paid to Date” to $15.00. If I enter in $10.00 for “Enter New Payment Amount”, the “Total Amount Paid to Date becomes “$25.00” but the “Total Amount Owing” says “$-25.00”. This does not make sense at all!

Furthermore, the price in the email that the attendee receives once they are registered says “If you have not done so already, please submit your payment in the amount of $15.00.” It should read $30.00, as that’s the price of the ticket.

It seems the price field is just taking whatever I input into the attendee paid field and making calculations based on this and NOT the actual price $30.00.

Please can you look into this, because it does seem like an actual bug given that I have installed a fresh copy of WP and EE with no additional plugins or templates to mess around with the functioning. Thanks!

It’s assumed that if an admin is entering an attendee in the backend, that the admin intends to add the attendee to the completed payment list. The amount paid field is not intended to reflect a specific ticket price. You can adjust the ticket price for the attendee in the admin, as well as the amount paid.

The Amount Paid field is not the problem. The problem is that whenever I put in the Amount Paid field, it shows as the actual Ticket Price, and it uses the Amount Paid field entry to calculate all the amount owing etc. fields, thus giving a negative amount owing, which is wrong. The Amount Paid field also populates the ticket price that appears in the email that is sent to registrants. So it’s not correct.

I urge you to take a look at this on your end because I’m sure you’ll see that if you manually register an attendee and enter in their payment (especially partial payments), that the ticket price and owing amounts will be wrong.

Hi Vanessa,

It sounds like you are adding the amount paid to the attendee record page. That one should be left as is and the amount paid should be added to the add/edit payment page.

Hi Josh, I think perhaps some screenshots will help illustrate what’s happening and why I think there’s a problem.

1) I enter an attendee manually to an event. Notice how I put $10.00 in the Amount Paid field. The ticket price for this event is actually $30.00.
http://www.vanessachu.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Screen-Shot-2013-06-14-at-10.43.54-AM-1024×724.png

2) Now when I click into the Attendee, Nessa Chu to view her details, you’ll notice that the Total Amount Owing is $0, and Total Amount Paid to Date is $0.

3) So I go to click on “View/Edit Payment” to alter the Payment. When I get to this page the Total Amount Owing is $0, and Total Amount Paid to Date is $0. I proceed to enter in $10.00 again in the “Enter New Amount”. And then I get the following screenshot showing that I overpaid with a negative owing balance.

This is all done on a brand new install of WP 3.5.1 and EE 3.1.33.

Am I doing something incorrectly?

Going to try the screenshot links again as it seems they’re broken.

Notice also the email that gets sent to the attendee has the $10.00 amount in the payment amount. Shouldn’t this read $30.00, as that’s the ticket price? See screenshot:

When an admin manually enters an attendee in the backend, it is assumed that the admin can give that attendee a ticket price that is independent of the ticket prices on the frontend. Notice that you are not selecting a frontend ticket price when you are manually entering an attendee? If you wish to manually enter an attendee at a $30 ticket price, then when you enter the attendee put $30 in the “Amount Paid” field. Then edit the attendee’s payment details to reflect what the attendee has actually paid. For example, if the attendee still owes $20 of the $30, enter a new payment of -20, a transaction id, and update.

Ok, I understand that this is a quirk of EE for manual registrations. But I also want to note that if I do enter in a negative payment to express partial payments, the “Payment Status” shows “Overpaid”, not “Imcomplete”. I cannot change this status manually either. So this seems rather odd?

Hi Vanessa,

As far as I can tell, there isn’t a feature within Event Espresso that tracks partial payments. You could try using the admin only question field to use the Event Espresso admin to keep track of partial payments though.
