I have PayPal Pro but have not set it up in my EE 3.1.36.6 plugin…been just using the “PayPal Settings”. Do I need a “Shopping Cart” in order to utilize the PayPal Pro features or do I just need to enter the “PayPal Pro Settings” I get from PayPal? Second, how will the PPP change the look/feel/functionality of my site, if at all? Thanks! |

Hi Suzanne, How are you today? Event Espresso does the shopping cart integration for you 🙂 You need to use the PayPal Pro settings, but you also need a SSL certificate because your attendees will no longer be directed to paypal to make their payment, instead they will stay on your website to make a payment. There is also a little expense from PayPal. The difference between PayPal Standard and PayPal Pro: https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/compare-business-products |

OK great. So PayPal provides two options when I Request API credentials: “Option 1 – Grant API permissions to a third party to use certain PayPal APIs on your behalf. “Option 2 – Request API credentials to create your own API username and password. I am assuming I choose Option 1? Is so, it then asks: |

Hi Suzanne, I believe you are referring to the new account wizard that appears at the top of your PayPal.com screen once you are logged in. There should be a small link at the bottom to skip this part of the wizard. Once that has been done, you can setup the PayPal IPN: https://developer.paypal.com/docs/classic/ipn/integration-guide/IPNSetup/ — |

I don’t think its a “new account wizard”…when I follow the steps at PayPal>My Account>Profile>Request API credentials it brings me to the choice above. The link you provided takes me to “Identifying Listeners” which is outside my level of understanding. Possible to rephrase in layman’s terms? |

Sorry about that. You are looking for PayPal Pro and my feedback was regarding PayPal Standard. You’ll need to go with option 2. Once this has been created, you can copy and paste the information into your PayPal pro payment settings page. The screen should appear similar to this but you’ll see an option to create the new credentials: http://cl.ly/image/3J262o3d1M3c — |

OK. Thanks. So I did that. API Certificate. Got my API username and API password. What do I put in the PayPal Payments Pro Email box and the PayPal API signature box? There is one more number on the form PayPal produced but it is called a fingerprint. And I have no idea what Sandbox mode is. Is that important? |
|
Hi, You’ll use your PayPal.com email for the email field. Go back to that page in PayPal and you’ll see a link to View API signature: http://cl.ly/image/3J262o3d1M3c The only fields that are needed are those shown in the payment methods page for PayPal Pro in your WordPress dashboard. — |

When I view that screen in PayPal, it is identical EXCEPT it says “View API Certificate” not “View API Signature” like your sample. When I click that option, I see my certificate. There is a number called “fingerprint” described in the help as “This is used by developers to help identify certificates.” Is that the signature??? |

Hi, It should be, it is likely slightly different for PayPal Pro versus a standard account like Lorenzo and I have. |
I am attempting a test registration now after entering the info as you both suggested. I am concerned though, as I am on the payment page and it is not showing as a secure (https:) connection, so my credit card info could be compromised. |
|
So I spoke with PayPal and now I do have the correct signature info (I did have the wrong one earlier) however even after setting it up with the correct info, the test registration still is insecure. PayPal said I needed to get a SSL certificate…I guess I need to complete that process too before switching over to PayPalPro? Do I do anything in EE with that? |
|
PayPal says: “If you use PayPal Payments Pro or Virtual Terminal, you’re responsible for meeting the PCI Security standards. To meet these security standards, you need to enroll with a PCI-Qualified Security Assessor or Approved Scanning Vendor for PCI certification services. These services must include a quarterly security scanning of your office and store internet connections and website as well as the completion of a Security Self-Assessment questionnaire.” Sounds intense. |

Hi, your web host will be able to provide you an SSL certificate for a fee. This will enable https on your site and secure the payment processing for PayPal Pro. Please also see the end of this page: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/accept-payments-event-espresso/ — |
