Hello,
Is it possible to have custom questions appear in e-mail registration for the event admin? When I add the questions shortcode, I get the attendees info at the top of the e-mail along with the same info in the body of the e-mail. So I removed the questions shortcode, now I have the attendees info at the top of the e-mail which is fine but I have 2 custom questions I would like to appear. Is there a custom question shortcode? I’m sure the answer is something simple that I am overlooking. Thanks

I’m sure it is an issue of the shortcodes but I can’t seem to figure it out. I also notice that when I do add the questions code, the custom questions show but not the answers.

Hi Candis,

When I add the questions shortcode, I get the attendees info at the top of the e-mail along with the same info in the body of the e-mail.

Where are you adding the questions shortcode?

We have the [QUESTION_LIST] shortcode which lists all the custom questions assigned to an attendee. If you edit the message type (in this example we’ll use the Registration Approved, event admin context – http://take.ms/JQgXB) within Event Espresso -> Messages.

Then scroll down to the last content box, which will be for [QUESTION_LIST] – http://take.ms/Abkph

Basically what QUESTION_LIST does is loop through each custom question assigned to a attendee and outputs the content of that box for each question. So currently it simply outputs:

Question: *question*
Answer: *answer*

http://take.ms/t7OE3

By default [QUESTION_LIST] should already be included within your templates and outputting a list of questions for each attendee. [QUESTION_LIST] should be within the [ATTENDEE_LIST] as each attendee will have different answers for their questions.

If you could provide a screenshot of your current template and further details of what you would like to output we can advise further.

I understand that better now. So, now I just have the issue of the custom questions not showing. I tried both ways with and without the [answers*]

The regular questions are showing up correctly. I have the custom questions now setup in it’s own question group with the question group box ticked on the event page. I previously tried adding the custom questions to the “address group” with no luck. It was at that point I added the new question group.

If I am using the [Answers*] correctly, should the question be typed out as it appears on the question name or as it appears on the question label? Which in my case would be the difference between “Company” and “company”.

Thank you

Hi,

The proper format for the dynamic answer shortcode is using the exact question display text. So if the question display text was “Do you like cheese?” then the shortcode would be [ANSWER_*Do you like cheese?]

Notice by exact, we mean spaces, special chars, etc.

However, could you post a screenshot of your [QUESTION_LIST] editor please?

This list http://swooshtech.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/eemessage2.png

Should already be outputting the answers for those questions.

Is this the correct screenshot you are looking for?

It is yes, thank you.

That should output the answers to your questions, but it obviously is not.

Would it be possible for me to take a quick look at your messages? If so could you send temporary login details using https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/
