My clients are emailing me this,
I keep receiving emails to say my payment has declined, but when I click on the link, my payment has been accepted and Charlotte’s status for the event has been approved.
Please can you confirm what I need to do? Make payment again or some how stop these emails? I seem to have had 25 between last night and now.

We’ll need to know what’s causing the 49 extra email notifications before we can confirm what you need to do. Can you check your server’s PHP error logs at the time the transaction was made?

Sure, you can call your web host support and ask them for the error log. We will need that error log in order to investigate further.

Also, before you make that call, you can check on something, and it will take about one minute. What can happen is, an email can and will send if there’s an address in the To field only, with nothing in the From field. However if there isn’t an email address in the From field, no confirmation of being received can be made, so some email servers will resend again, and again.
So if you find there is no email address in the From field of your sent messages, you ou need to get an email address included in the From field. You can either place one directly in the message templates From field, or put the [CO_EMAIL] Shortcode there. Then, you go to EE > General Settings > Primary Contact email and verify there is a valid email address in that field.

It is the short code as you advised above. This has happened again, it sent out multiple emails to a client today when purchasing.

We’re you able to get in touch with your Web Host and see if they can get the error log?
Another possible solution is to use a transactional email service instead of the host’s built in email server. Here’s a link to a guide that outlines some transactional email service options:

Your host should be able to configure the server to avoid that “attempt to invoke directory as script” error.
The other thing you can do is use a transactional email service like one of the ones mentioned in this guide:

When you use a transactional email service, you avoid some of the typical problems that can happen with the host’s built in mail server.

Would the transaction email service cause a conflict with Easy WP SMTP as I am using that for sending Gravity Forms email notifications. So it should be noted that we are not using WP core mail (php) function to send email notification. I have contacted the host but there are no errors related to the emails.
