We set up the merchant account with PayPal Express Checkout with Smart Buttons (EE 4.9.64+) – PayPal Pro. I tested it several times yesterday and everything worked fine. Today the credit purchases give a “This transaction cannot be processed. The merchant’s account is not able to process transactions” message and now we get a “critical error” message when we try to proceed to registration. The purcahse transactions are not working at all.
I dod not use a sandbox account. I tested it live ant it worked perfectly. The client spoke with a Paypal rep to set up the account specifically for event expresso and Pro.
I see that you tried to register. I solved the problem based on your questions. Deactivate the PayPal Express setup and deactivate the PayPal Express with Smart Buttons Plugin. Everything works fine now. I have no idea why it worked initially.
Yeah, that’s really strange and unfortunately, I can’t reproduce to troubleshoot further although I’m glad it’s working for you now.
However, something to note above using PayPal Pro is you need to the highest level of PCI Compliance to use it, is that something you aware aware of? If not I highly recommend switching to one of the other integrations (Like PayPal Expreso with Smart Buttons) and leave PayPal to sort the majority compliance out on their servers, leaving you with minimal requirements.
