WP version: 4.0 When I make payment through PayPal and am passed back to Event epresso the following error appears in a red pop up window. “An error has occurred: PayPal IPN Validation has failed. EE-Paypal_standard – handle_ipn_for_transaction – 446” after a minute this box raids away and the page shows that the transaction has been successfully processed. Check your e-mail blah blah blah with a button to a PDF order receipt. when I click on the receipt it says the the order has not been paid for. The PayPal payment was made successfully but the hand over to the event expresso database didn’t work. Please advise what it wrong. The PayPal account was originally connected to an earlier version of Event expresso on a different domain (http://www.huskissoncarnival.com.au) which we took down and move over to the present domain and used the new V.4 I don’t have access to the PayPal account as it belongs to my client. I’m just wondering if there was something we set up in the PayPal that was used in V.3 that is coursing a problem? Sincerely, |

I also noticed that I have my event set to “default Payment Status” set to “Payment Pending”. Should I have have this set to “Approved” ? It is also interesting to not that the test transactions have not be issues with a registration code. I hope to get some enlightenment on this issue as my site is live and the event start next Friday. |
You should only set the default status to Approved if you wish for your attendees to count towards the event limit regards of their payment status. In EE4 the Registration status is separate from the Transaction status so you can ‘Approve’ a registration but the Transaction status can still be pending (or even failed). On the registration that threw the error above. Can you view the transaction associated with it and see if there is a value within the ‘Gateway Response’ field – http://take.ms/pUFn7
So running registrations and paying whilst with Paypal Sandbox works as expected? |

Hi Richard, I had a look at your screenshots and I can see a delete cache toggle. Do you know if no-cache rules have been setup for your caching plugin? https://eventespresso.com/wiki/setup-nocache-exclusion-rules-event-espresso/ — |

Hello Lorenzo, Thank you for your advice, I have gone in and set up the no cache exclusion rules. Then tested again and Still get same error. please see screen shot http://screencast.com/t/Y2CCZBpq and here is the transaction details of my last test: http://screencast.com/t/mvYpAqtQFHh Sincerely, Richard Ballinger |

Hay Guys, I don’t mean to be rude, but do I need to purchase a support token to get this fixed? I need it done asap as this is a live site for a live event happening in 9 days time. Please advise. I just paid annual renewal fees, and feel like I should not have moved from V3 to V4 as this obviously is not a stable version. I don’t have time to change back to V3, I just need it to work. Sincerely, Richard Ballinger |
Hi there Richard, you aren’t being rude and a support token isn’t necessary. Could you change Fisher’s to Fishers for your event names and save changes? We have a report from earlier this week that the apostrophes may break the PayPal IPN since we now send the event name and ticket name to PayPal. Please let us know if this helps. — |

Hi Lorenzo, That seams to have solved the problem. Thank you for your help. |
Great! We are wrapping up testing for Event Espresso 4.4.4 which will include this fix for the apostrophes. This should be ready for tomorrow. — |
