I’d earlier raised the issues with Seating Chart add on https://eventespresso.com/topic/seating-chart-5/page/2/#post-109059 and honestly regretting that why did I buy the add on as most of the things has to be done manually.

Now, we are receiving ‘PayPal Instant Payment Notification Disabled’ emails. PayPal says: “Please check your server that handles PayPal Instant Payment Notification (IPN) messages. Messages sent to the following URL(s) are not being received”.

Moreover, the system is not sending ‘Thank You’ email to the ticket buyer(s). The only acknowledgment they are getting is PayPal’s invoice. I’v followed all the setup instructions but still having problems. I don’t know whether it’s also because of the seating chart add on? But I need help to fix IPN problem asap.

Hi Nadeem,

Do you have any firewalls or security plugins that could possibly block the IPN notification to Event Espresso?

Thanks Lorenzo … No firewall or security plugin.

Is this account being used for multiple projects? Does your PayPal settings show a link in the field in this screenshot and is it set to Receive?

Nope. The account is not being used for multiple projects. We had enabled receiving IPN messages but after a while PayPal disabled it owing to continuous error messages. I’ve now again enabled it. Moreover, PayPal’s IPN is also activated in EE’s payment settings.

Okay, I misunderstood. Event Espresso needs the PayPal IPN to update payments correctly so if it was off, that would explain the Paypal emails about the IPN not working.

It’s on both at EE and PayPal but I am getting this message:

That is because the IPN was on and then turned off. From your latest update, it appears to be on again:

https://eventespresso.com/topic/paypal-ipn-2/#post-112079

Try resending any IPN notifications through your PayPal account:

I’ve done that and will update you once received the outcome. Meanwhile, could you please let me know how to add surcharge with seating chart add on? Currently, it’s not working.

Hi Nadeem,

If you browse to your site’s transactions page, http://fcf.uk.com/?page_id=8 , you’ll get the No ID error (which confirms the transactions page code is running as expected). You will also see a fair amount of images and scripts loading. This can slow down and even prevent the PayPal IPN response from working correctly.

A possible solution for you would be to install the simplified transactions page template to your theme. You can download a copy from here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-set-up-paypal-ipn/#incomplete

Once the template is added to your theme, you select the txn template for the transactions page from the page editor, then save.

It will also be good to check the paypal IPN log in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/logs for errors because your server may not be configured correctly to allow the PayPal verification.

Part 2: How to add surcharge with seating chart add on: Since the Seating Chart add-on sets the prices of each ticket via the chart you upload, you can add a surcharge by including it in the price of the ticket. For example, if one seat ticket is $50.00 and you charge a $5.00 surcharge, you enter $55.00 in the price column for the seating chart for that seat.

Josh thanks for your reply but the page is still returning with ID error despite I’ve uploaded the txn page and set it as template of the relevant page.

People are complaining that they don’t get any thank you or payment confirmation email from the website. You can see from the back-end that everything is in place as is instructed.

Well, you will have to accept that seating chart add on becomes a liability to otherwise very good EE ticketing system. We didn’t buy ticketing add on only because of troubles we are facing due to seating chart.

Hi Nadeem,

While I can’t see from the back-end that everything is in place as instructed because I don’t have admin access to your site, I can confirm that the simplified transactions page template is not loading for the transactions page. This is because images and scripts are still loading. When the simplified transactions page template is installed, you will see no images or other website content on the transactions page.

Remember, the transactions page displaying an ID error is fine if you visit the page in your web browser. This means it’s working. Your web browser is not the PayPal IPN.

People are complaining that they don’t get any thank you or payment confirmation email from the website. You can see from the back-end that everything is in place as is instructed.

I can help you with this. Can you tell me what happens when you go from the PayPal site after paying? Does another page load up that’s not the Thank You page?
