Hello,

A bunch of our users are reporting errors when trying to checkout for an event via PayPal and while using Firefox. We have texted other browsers and non paid events, all of which work fine.

Any idea what the issue could be? The website is gardeningvolunteers.org. Appreciate the help.

Hi there,

Do you know which error is shown and when?

I tested using Firefox which directed to PayPal correctly (I stopped at that point).

Your site is using Event Espresso 4.9.64.p which was released June 26, 2018 and the current version is 4.10.0.p

Is there something preventing you from updating to the latest version?

Didn’t realize there was an update– I am not seeing the option to update the plugin via WP backend. Is there a way to activate that or is FTP the best way?

We don’t recommend updating using FTP.

Before moving forward the latest version of EE needs to run a migration, it will put your site into maintenance mode and advise you to create a database backup then walk through the migrations.

So, before doing anything else can you create a full database backup?

Great!

So the reason your not seeing any updates is because you haven’t assigned your license key to the site. The key doesn’t effect how EE fucntions but it does enable 1 click updates in the dashboard.

So, on your account page you’ll see your license key. Copy that.

Now, on your site go to Event Espresso -> General Settings.

Paste your license key in the license key field (check for empty spaces before/after) and save.

EE should now show an update is available in Dashboard -> Plugins.

Run the update and EE will go into maintenance mode. Follow the on-screen instructions to migrate your data and you’ll be running the latest version.

I have the code entered (without spaces before or after), but it doesn’t seem to change the update availability status.

May I ask do any other plugins show updates available? It may be that someone has turned off update notifications for plugins on your site. This can be done using a plugin or by adding a code snippet.

If you’re unable to use the WordPress plugin updater, you could do a manual update instead, by following this guide:
