Our website is disputescentre.com.au

All online payments since are failing. We are using Mijireh as a payment gateway for payments to NAB Bank in Australia, their service is called NAB Transact Direct.

When I try a test transaction I get the following error message:

Whoops! Please fix the problems below:
Order failed: The SSL connection to the remote server could not be established

This is the same message that shows on Mijireh.

NAB Transact recently (23 November) updated their security to require TLS 1.2. All payments since this date have failed.

We are hosted by Siteground. Mijireh, Siteground and Event Espresso all say they use/support TLS 1.2.

Please advise on a solution.

Michael

Hi Michael,

When is the above error shown?

Is it shown on Mijireh’s hosted checkout or on your site before you reach Mijireh?

If you make it Mijireh’s server (the checkout may look the same as your site as you ‘slurp’ the checkout page on your site, but the URL will start ‘https://secure.mijireh.com’) and then the error is shown when attempting payment it an issue with Mijireh and they’ll need to fix it on their end.

Can you link me to an event I can use to test?

Hi Tony,

Thanks for replying.

Here is a test event:

https://www.disputescentre.com.au/events/1-00-test-event-delete/

The error comes up on the slurped checkout page after you enter credit card and address etc and click on make payment.

Yeah, that’s an error on Mijireh’s side and we don’t have any control over that request, unfortunately.

It looks like Mijireh can’t connect to NAB’s server and as it’s on their hosted checkout page it will be an issue Mijireh need to investigate, you’ll need to create a ticket with them.

Hi Tony,

I’ve emailed Mijireh, unfortunately their aren’t as onto it as you but hopefully they will respond soon.

Thanks from New Zealand!

You could switch to another payment method, Stripe for example (really quick to set up)

Or is NAB a hard requirement for your events?

Hi Tony,

The plot thickens. I wrote to Mijireh last week and hadn’t heard anything so I upgraded my Mijireh account to Cloudswipe because I didn’t know what else to do. However Event Espresso can’t integrate with Cloudswipe.

Do you know of a workaround to get Cloudswipe to work with Event Espresso?

On Average NAB Transact charges a 1.5% credit card fee whereas Stripe and Braintree charge 2.9%. Over a year this adds up to thousands so my client would obviously not change.

Regards

Michael

As far as I am aware, CloudSwipe would require another payment method as it’s a completely different integration to how Mijireh worked, have you checked with them to see if they have an EE payment method integration?

EE is listed as an upcoming integration on CloudSwipes page so they may be developing a payment method you could test.

Failing that the other option is to create a payment method for NAB themselves and use that, we have documentation on creating your own payment method:

https://eventespresso.com/2015/03/developers-guide-to-payment-methods-for-event-espresso-4-6/

Or we also offer custom payment methods as a service:
