Hi,
I am upgrading to EE4 in a Siteground staging area. There is an issue with the display of the Payment radio button when using a Chrome browser. (I see this on my Windows 7 machine and on my Macbook.) The button label is not displayed correctly. You can see it in this image – http://creativelifecenter.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/method-of-payment-problem.jpg

The labels do display correctly if I am using the staging area site in Firefox.

Thank you,
Marcia

Hi Marcia,

This will need to be fixed in CSS. Can you share the link to the staging site?

Hi Marcia,

Do you have images set for your payment gateways in Event Espresso > Payment Methods?

It’s also likely that the image are not showing because they are pulling from behind the staging server’s secure login.

Could you turn off the secure login for the staging server and see if the images show then?

Hi Jonathan,

We only have one image (for the PayPal button). I tested it by removing the https and using http in the Chrome browser inspector and the image displayed. However the text of the other two radio buttons is hidden behind the radio button itself. Do I need to create images for the check and invoice buttons or is there some way for the texk “Check” and “Invoice” to display properly?

Hi Marcia,

Are these the URLs you have for the “Button URL” fields? Replace “yourdomain.com” with your domain.

Check: http://yourdomain.com/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/payment_methods/Invoice/lib/invoice-logo.png

Invoice: http://yourdomain.com/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso-core-reg/payment_methods/Check/lib/check-logo.png

Also, Marcia, we are noticing this error when we do a test registration. Are you seeing it too?

Try to rule out any plugin conflicts. Deactivate all non Event Espresso plugins and test to see if the issue is still occurring. If it is not, then we know it is a problem with another plugin. You can then find out which plugin it is by reactivating each plugin individually and testing to see if the problem starts happening after the activation. When it occurs after activating a plugin, then we know this is the culprit.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for the links to the check and invoice images. The check image spells check “Cheque” which is not correct for the United States where we have out business. Is there an alternate for this with the correct spelling?

Also we are getting that error when trying to go through the registration process. I have de-activated all the plugins except Event Espresso plugins and the error persists. On the screen where we get the error, the registration appears twice behind the error message.

Is this error possibly occurring because we are in a staging environment with Siteground hosting?

Hi Marcia,

To answer your earlier question, you should not need to manually set the button images. They should appear on their own.

We attempted to browse to the registration payment area of the registration checkout page but we are receiving the error mentioned earlier.

You shared that switching other plugins off did not help.

Does this staging site have a caching option enabled (https://eventespresso.com/wiki/setup-nocache-exclusion-rules-event-espresso/#supercacher) or does the issue go away when you switch to another theme?

Hi Lorenzo,

Plugins except Event Espresso plugins are turned off. Default TwentyTwelve theme activated. SuperCacher not activated in the Siteground hosting.

The registration page error seems to show when we test the registration page on the Siteground staging site when not logged into the WordPress admin. When logged in, the image for the payment type radio buttons do not show up. On Firefox the images are replaced by text and it looks OK. On Chrome the text appears behind the actual radio buttons and it not readable and things look broken.

When I try to manually set up the images in the Event Espresso Payment Methods section I get an error:

An error has occurred:
Payment method of type Invoice was not saved because there were validation errors. They have been marked in the form

I am beginning to get the impression that we will not be able to test the EE3 to EE4 migration properly in the Siteground staging area. Do you think that payment images and the layout of the payment method radio buttons will work if we push live from the staging site?

Okay, so from what you have shared its failing even with only Event Espresso running and a default theme in use?

Could you try moving a fresh copy of the live site into the staging area again?

Yes, we had the same problems with and without no other plugins than EE enabled and using a default theme. I have also turned off caching for the domain.

I cannot move a fresh copy over as we have made too many edits to the staging site. I think what we will try is going live with what we have then troubleshoot after.

Hi Marcia,

You can also try any of these other button image URLs (set in Event Espresso > Payment settings) on your staging site to see if that makes a difference:

https://ee-screenshots.s3.amazonaws.com/2015/07/invoice-logo.png

https://ee-screenshots.s3.amazonaws.com/2015/07/paypal-logo-original.png

https://ee-screenshots.s3.amazonaws.com/2015/07/paypal-logo.png

We have moved the staging site live at http://creativelifecenter.org. We are still getting the same major error on the registration page after filling out information and clicking “Proceed to Payment Options”.
http://creativelifecenter.org/event-registration/?step=attendee_information#checkout

This happens for non-logged in users. If I am logged into the WP admin I can proceed to Payment Options.

The error is:
An error has occurred:
A valid transaction could not be initiated for processing your registrations.

It happens on Firefox and Chrome on Mac.

This really needs to be fixed ASAP as it is on the live site now. Thanks!

We do not have a SSL certificate activated for the site yet–could this be a source of the problem?

I have tried enabling and disabling maintenance mode and this had no effect.

If you need a login to see for yourself please let us know.

No that shouldn’t cause this.

It looks like this may be an issue with either caching (you mentioned above this is disabled) or possibly how nginx is set up when dealing with ajax requests.

Can you send login details using this form please:

https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

Also do you have access to the servers errors logs? If so can you check if any errors are being thrown when a registration is made.

Hi Marcia,

I checked and can’t find any details.

When you enter your details you need to confirm you have checked they work before clicking submit or the details will not send. Could you try sending them again please?
