I’ve noticed that the dates were patched to reflect the correct date from your end for these cases, but is there a long-term fix for preventing this from happening on future events?
It turns out that Event Espresso 3 stores the date of the event with the attendee record. This is because it’s possible to select a date, so the date they selected when they registered is the one that goes out in email.
If you need to change a date and send out a reminder email, you can set up a custom email template for the event and place the actual date in the email template.
In EE4 the emails work quite a bit differently in that if you change a datetime the emails can autocorrect.
Thanks for your prompt reply! I understand the issue, but as our events have their dates changed when they are not enough participants, it happens pretty often and the wor-kabout would be tedious and adds in room for errors.
We would love to upgrade to EE4 but have just renewed our subscription to EE3. Any chance we could get our subscription changed to that for EE4, as we would not have renewed to EE3 if we knew about this issue?
Your EE3 license gives you access to EE4 and the equivalent add-on’s to EE3, you’ll find these within your account page.
However it is highly recommend to update to EE4 on a development copy of the site first, test everything works as expected, then update the live site. EE4 is not just an update to EE3 but a completely new system, it will migrate your EE3 data over (events, attendees etc) but its much better to confirm this works as expected away from your sites visitors (just to be safe)
I don’t intend to scare you away from EE4 as it’s a much more flexible system but just making sure the update goes as smoothly as possible 🙂
