Ordering issue using REM event list templates

(I am on the latest update of event espresso)

I am using the event_list and event_list_display REM templates that were provided here:

https://gist.github.com/3933889
https://gist.github.com/3165268

I made some small changes to event_list_display to change the ‘register now’ text and I also changed the code on line 29 to 0) : (the 0 used to be a 1) that way events with one or multiple instances get displayed the same way. I want the courses to be listed in alphabetical order, so I am using the following shortcode: [EVENT_LIST category_identifier=”infoburst” order_by=event_name]

Even with this code they still get listed from the oldest event ID to the newest, seen here:
http://js.chisoftware.com/infoburst-training

I searched some on your forums and saw a thread where people were having the same issue. If I rename my event_list and event_list_display to something else the same shortcode displays the events in alphabetical order. Is there updated REM event list and display files to use that fix this issue? I want to use the REM templates so that recurring events are grouped together.

That leads me into a second issue I ran into while posting this – and I just realized that it is probably related to my event list being displayed by event ID. Anyways, I created a recurring event (with one date) to test out my event ordering issue. I decided to go in and add another date to it and saw that it wasn’t being grouped together with the first event. I created a new category and added both instances of that event to it and they displayed as one event with two dates, like it should. If you go to the link I provided earlier and look for an event called ‘Another Order Test’ you will see in my first event list where it is displayed as two separate events. If you scroll down, underneath Using new category ‘infoburst2? there is a different list where it is displayed properly as one event box with two dates below. I looked at the event codes and the two ‘Another Order Test’ event ID’s are 28 and 25. In my first event list, there is an ‘ICE-X’ course in between the two. It’s event ID is 27, which would probably explain why they got broken up seeing as my list is ordering them via ID.

So, if we can get my REM event list to order the events by their name, that would take care of my first issue and likely fix the second as well.

Thanks for the help as always.

Hi Yolande,

We have a new recurring events template set that has just been updated and is going through testing. It should be released in the next recurring event manager update. This will resolve your two issues.
