Hi! I’m not sure if my short subject title really captures my question so here it goes: We’re starting a film festival. Four days, probably four venues and a separate stand-alone box office. There will be several films at each venue each day. Same-day tickets probably won’t even be integrated into Event Espresso, we’ll just hand out paper ‘Admit One’ style tickets. What we need managed are the sales of multi-pack ticket sales. We’re selling 6- and 10-packs of tickets at a discounted rate. The tickets from a pack could be used by one person, attending e.g. six films (any day, any venue). Or, that one person could distribute those tickets to any number of friends–e.g., six individuals going to any film on any day once. How might Event Espresso handle this situation? Could the ticket buyer print out one, or several copies of their ‘ticket’ or ‘receipt’ with a QR code on it, and Event Espresso would allow either a scan or a manual method to basically check off each instance of admission until the total of six tickets were used? Are there other, perhaps better solutions you offer? Thank you in advance for your time and help! -Frank |

If you allow multiple registrations, but don’t require information for each additional attendee, then the registration form will ask the user how many tickets they want. The ticket they receive will have a quantity on it, and they can use that single physical ticket at the door and have it scanned up to the number of the quantity on the ticket. |

Thanks for your quick response, Sidney! I have follow up questions which I hope you can answer: No individual ticket sales will be conducted through our site, only 6-packs and 10-packs. So it sounds like we’d definitely need to allow multiple registrations, but that we’d need to restrict it to those two choices, which would automatically be for the quantity specified by the name of the “pack.” Is that possible? (Otherwise I guess they’d have to enter “6” or “10” and we’d have to hope they didn’t put any other number in there.) Also: since someone purchasing one “pack” of six tickets is allowed to distribute them to friends in any quantity, how might this be managed? Could someone email the same “ticket” to each friend attending, and the scanning system wouldn’t discriminate between multiple printed copies, solely relying on the number of times the code was scanned until reaching the quantity purchased? |
We have no way of limiting how many tickets can be purchased at one time. You might have to customize the ticket selector to only show those two options in the Multiple Event Registration addon (https://eventespresso.com/product/espresso-multiple/) event cart. The attendee would have to distribute the same ticket to whomever they desired, and correct. The attendee limit would be how many times that single qr code is scanned. |
