Hello. I am no longer able to edit my content pages. When I click Edit, I just get a blank screen. I am running EE3 version 3.1.37.16.P with WordPress version 5.2.18 with PHP version 7.6, I believe. Please advise. Thank you. |

PHP: 7.4.10 actually. |

May I ask why you do not want to convert to EE4? EE3 has been deprecated for a while now and is considered our legacy product, we will likely be dropping support for EE3 within the next 12 months, it no longer receives updates unless security related and EE4 covers most of its use cases. We do not currently have any plans to re-write EE3 to be PHP8 compatible as EE4 is the product we will be focusing on moving forward. But since you mention that your server is using Version 7.6, the issue could be different, it could be on the Plugin conflict or theme conflict can be the culprit too. can you take a screenshot on this section? Can you also do some test by installing Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin or any similar. That will disable all plugins and switch to a default theme and then allow you to enable specific plugins whilst in troubleshooting mode. Once disabled you will revert back to the current state. to start go to thanks. |

Hello Rio, We would like to but being a one-man business with the shutdown, etc., we did not have the time nor the wherewithal to do so. What will upgrading to EE4 entail? Will it be a lengthy/costly process? Please advise. Thank you. |
No additional cost to EE3 subscribers, they have access to the core files and add-ons to upgrade. The process is described here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-upgrade-event-espresso/#migrate-to-event-espresso-4 |
Thank you, Garth. Support Services for my Site has been enabled. Can you assist? |
Hi there, Our support license does not include migrations from EE3 to EE4+ as the work done to ‘fix’ issues often lies outside of Event Espresso itself. For example, EE4 relies much more heavily on your site’s theme to output the event data and if the theme is old and/or doesn’t follow WP standards correctly then the theme will need to be updated/modified to fix those issues for EE4 to function correctly. It looks like your site hasn’t been updated in a long time so I assume the same applies to other plugins, which may then also need to be updated when your site is updated. We simply can’t cover all of that within our support licenses, we provide support for Event Espresso itself. Whilst I do recommend switching over to EE4 if you can add more details on the issue you are currently facing with EE3 we may be able to get that fixed up so that you can at least have your events available and start a proper plan to migrate to EE4. |

Thank you, Tony. Understood. The main issue right now is that I am no longer able to edit my content pages. When I click Edit, I just get a blank screen. And some of my pages are password protected. How does one disable this feature? Thank you in advance. |

Which content pages? A white screen means a fatal error is being thrown, that can be from any code on the site so we need the error being thrown. Do you have a section in your hosts control panel to view PHP errors? |
Hello, All content Pages are blank when I try to edit them. Even if I choose Pages > Add new, a white screen shows, no content even though the site is running. I also tried the View link for each page. It takes me to a page with a view from the website, but when I click on the Edit icon/link toward the bottom of the page, a blank white screen shows up again. Should I just try to update to the latest versions of WP and EE3 and see if that resolves the issue? If so, after ensuring that I have a recent back up file of the site, should I upgrade EE3 then WP, or WP first then EE3? Please advise. |
Also, for optimal running of EE3 and WP, what PHP version do you recommend? We are currently running EE3 version 3.1.37.16.P with WordPress version 5.2.18 with PHP version 7.4.10. Please advise. |
Without knowing what the error is I can’t give you an answer to this. Did you check f the servers error logs show the full error? Or if you have FTP access you can enable WP_DEBUG and view the full error on the page, if you post that here we can investigate.
PHP7.4 is the highest version support by EE3 so if you are sticking with EE3 right now, I’d stick with that. |

Hello, I left a private reply. Please advise. |
Can you copy and paste all the error message you see? Send it as private message. thanks |

None of those warnings will be the cause of the white screen. Can I take a look in the admin? If you can send me temp WP admin and FTP credentials I can see what the specific error is, if that’s ok you can send temp login details using this form: |

Unfortunately not, the PHP Compatibility Checker plugin is just checking for known code conflicts, for example using a function that doesn’t exist anymore etc. If your getting a white screen a ‘fatal error’ is likely being thrown on the request and we need that specific error to move forward. |
Understood. Log in info has been submitted. |
Can you post the steps I need to take to see the white page? I’m not getting any white screens when trying to edit EE events or pages. |
This is the process that I do for Pages where the site content is: Pages > All Pages > About HDI (for example) > Edit = Blank white screen in Chrome, Safari and Firefox Even this renders a blank screen: Pages > All Pages > About HDI (for example) > View (the page shows up) > Edit icon at bottom of page = Blank white screen in Chrome, Safari and Firefox What am I doing wrong? Thank you. |
I did check your site, and everything seems fine. I can see all those pages you mention. We will reply on the other thread open. thanks |
Please advise on how I can edit the various pages as well. I’m still getting just a blank screen. And my registration form is no longer collection submitted information. Thank you guys. |
Hi. Which other open thread? Thank you. |
Hi there, Rio is referring to responding to you via email as your ‘other thread’. However, I’ve been looking into this further and it’s not showing the white screen for me. This issue is not something I’ve seen before and it looks like it’s something on the blocking the request. To confirm this I grabbed a copy your site from your backups and installed it locally, with minimal changes to the site (just those required to get it to load locally for me) I can edit the content pages with no issue at all. The first thing I would do now is context your host and confirm nothing on their end is blocking the request to |

Thank you, Tony and Rio. I will check with my host. I recently purchased a service from Sitelock through my host. I’m wondering if that has something to do with it. |

Hello Tony. The Editing of Content Pages has been resolved. The issue was with the ceiling pointer pointing to the wrong site. Now that this issue has been resolved, we see that we have an expired SSL certificate which will be resolved soon. The only remaining issue is that our registration page is still not working properly. I see that you successfully registered on 8/2/23 confirmed via the Email logs, however your test registration info was not captured on the Attendees List at all. Could this be resolved by upgrading to the current version of WP and EE3? |
Huh? Can you expand on that any further?
iirc I removed my test registrations from the site. Which attendee lists are you referring to? |
I cannot expand on the ceiling pointing issue. Sorry. I don’t understand it myself. But that seemed to have given us back control to edit the pages on our side. Yes, but we have an email log the tracks all confirmation emails that are sent out. The attendees that I am referring to are the attendees in the Teen Combo #2309-2 course, which only have two test registrations: one manual enrollment prior and after the issue started. Other than that, no registrations have been recorded after filling out the form. Please advise. |
Never heard of a ceiling pointer tbh, but at least its working 🙂
My apologies but I’m not sure what you are asking me. My test registrations worked but no-one else’s did? |
Thank you, Tony, for your reply. That is correct. No other registrations worked. The registration is OPEN and yet the attendees count stays at zero even after multiple registrations. |
Any advice? |
