https://www.nccivitas.org/events/ shows the list of events (I’m using the Event_Espresso shortcode) but the link to the event details and registration fields page show no header, no menu, no css and no fields to register for the event (https://www.nccivitas.org/events/?ee=123). Do you have any ideas on what is missing and where I being rebuilding the pages? If not, would you suggest a complete reinstall? Eddie F. |
Hi Eddie, I think you are saying that the styling is missing. However, I see your content on both pages. If your software is out of date, then I recommend backing up and updating to the current release: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/change-log/ Next, please check the recaptcha option in the general settings area of Event Espresso. If it is on but does not have any credentials from Google, then it will cause some issues. Thanks — |

Hi Eddie, The page is missing a lot of content too. This doesn’t look like something caused by a setting, but you can try a setting that might be affecting this. You go to Event Espresso > Template Settings and check to see if the Use the custom post types feature? is active. If so, you can deactivate it, then go to WordPress > Settings > Permalinks and simply loading the page will refresh the rewrite rules. If the above does not help, some of the Event Espresso 3 files and functions may have been customized. The page source of the event page where it’s missing formatting and other parts of the page looks like there’s a PHP error being thrown, so not all of the page gets loaded up. So another approach to fix this can be to backup the Event Espresso plugin, then backup all the files in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates, then remove them from the server. Then you install a fresh copy of Event Espresso 3. You will lose any customizations this way, but since you’ve backed them up they may be reapplied later. |

Thanks for the reply Josh. Eddie F. |
Hi Eddie, I checked the view source on your site and it says it has Event Espresso version 3.1.36.6.p installed. That’s not the current version of Event Espresso 3 which is currently at 3.1.37.4.P. I don’t think a database wipe is in order here, but you can update it to have the current version of the software and that may help. |

Thanks Josh, |
Hi Eddie, Did you check for any PHP files in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/ or in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates? You can also enable WP_DEBUG by editing the wp-config.php. If there’s a PHP error being thrown when the event page loads up, the error display may point to the condition that’s causing the error. One other place to check is within the active WordPress theme for any custom files or functions that override the main EE plugin files. |

Josh, |
I suggest removing them. Sounds like something went through and emptied the files, and left you with a real mess. |

Once I removed all of these files in the folders you described, BAM! it looks correct now. Thanks for your persistence and staying with me on this one. Evidently even though the Use Custom was set to know, it was still referencing them (especially the broken files). Thanks to you all! Eddie F. |
Hi Eddie, I’m glad that you got things up and running. One thing to clarify: The custom post type feature doesn’t use those custom files that were causing the trouble. EE3 core will always check for custom files first, regardless of the settings. |
