Tony – thanks. I downloaded the zip file from my account in event espresso, then opened my “Personal” Word Press account and went to “Plugins”, clicked on “upload plugin”. It then gave me an error saying I need to upgrade to a “Business” account in WordPress in order to install plugins.
Ah, my apologies, I misunderstand your question and thought you meant your EE license.
You’re hosting your site on WordPress.com and have a personal account with them, so yes, if you wanted to install plugins with your site hosted there, you would need a Business account with them at a cost of ~$300 a year.
WordPress.com is one option for hosting WordPress you can use others if preferred
(Yep, this is where it gets confusing, WordPress.com is WordPress, right? Well, sort of, but it’s not your only option)
The account you have with WordPress.com is basically a hosting account, they host your site and you use the WordPress software there.
You can use other hosting and use the WordPress software on that host, it all depends on your needs, and budget.
