Please forgive my ignorance: I am neither a WordPress expert, nor an expert developer. I am working for a company that needs to replace some custom plug-ins that are quite frankly a mess. I thought I might try to find an existing plug-in to do most of the same things that the custom plug-ins are doing. I thought Event Espresso looked like it might be just that but I’m not sure I am understanding what it can and can’t do. Please let me briefly describe what we need on our end and maybe someone can advise further. We do events (so far, no big surprise) and what we want to do is: 1) Allow sponsors, vendors and speakers to register online; 2) have sponsors and vendors be displayed on the event page in one section; 3) Create and display an agenda of events with speaker (and as appropriate, sponsor) information displayed with the agenda items; 4) Allow attendees to register online. Those are the highlights. So far, I don’t see any option for doing some of these things. For example, I thought that the categories might be the solution for #2, but it doesn’t appear that there is any means of tagging registrations with categories. Or am I missing something obvious? Thank you. |
Hi. I’ll do my best to clarify how I would do what you’re asking with Event Espresso. 1) I would create an event(s) for sponsors, vendors and speakers so you can have separate lists for those types of people. They call could register online for their own event. That way you can have your own custom questions for each type of person. 2) What information do you want displayed about the vendors and sponsors? Unless you’re looking for something specific, you could add that information to the event description page in it’s own section that’s separated by a heading or line. You can categorize events: https://eventespresso.com/features/event-categories/ and you can post the events that are categorized with a category shortcode. 3) I think this would have to be created manually. Event Espresso doesn’t have an agenda feature, and we built Event Espresso so that you’re handling registration/entrance to the event. So, I expect this would be a custom page. 4) Standard feature: https://eventespresso.com/features/event-registration/ Does that help? |

Helpful. The vendor info that is needing to be displayed is a logo, company name, and we want the ability to set them to be links. Not sure if the short codes will work with that (I’ll have to investigate that separately). Item 4 related to item 1 so you may have answered that question there. One other thing: In the venue options there is a box to enter a venue logo but it doesn’t seem to do anything. Again, I’m probably missing something obvious but how does that work? Thanks for the feedback. |
The venue image/logo will need to be the url location of the image: http://www.screencast.com/t/PvTIPPbA |

You can use a venue shortcode to display all the data on a page/post or event: https://eventespresso.com/testdrive/venue/ |

I’ll check those references out. Thanks for the info. |
Sure. Let us know if you have any more questions. |
