Need to send revised invoice after payment

I forgot to click the ‘taxable’box on the registration form, so attendees have paid the registration rate only. Now I need to send revised invoices that show the registration rate PLUS tax MINUS the payment already received. (so the balance owing is just the sales tax) What’s the easiest way to do this. I run EE4. Thanks.

Hi there,

You can’t just amend the invoice itself, you need to update the transaction to include the tax, however, we don’t currently have a feature to update the transaction with this change.

How many registrations do you have with this currently?

As it stands the only way I can think of doing this is to either re-register the user onto the ticket now that the taxable option has been checked or use the Attendee Mover Add-on to move the registration onto another taxable ticket in the event. I’ll check in with the developers to see if there’s another option available (may take a little due to time differences).

Thanks Tony. Re-registering is the only way I could think of because I need to provide a link (to PayPal) for the attendee to pay the sale tax. Sure wish there was an easier way though. Let me know if you can think of one.

Hi there,

Currently, the only way to have EE add the taxes in the above is to re-register the attendee onto the ticket again.

I’ve created a ticket for our developer to investigate this further, possibly adding a button to the transaction page to recalculate the transaction, updating any of the details needed, however that’s unlikely to be released ‘soon’ so if you need to send these out now, you’ll need to re-register the attendees.

Note that you can re-register the user yourself as the admin, add the payment to the transaction (using the same transaction number from PayPal so you keep the reference) and then send the user a payment reminder to completely their purchase. You don’t need to completely cancel, refund and register.
