We have had a slew of errors (around 40% of the time) with scanning in.
Parameters:
Multiple events (192 and 110 registrants.)
Same time
Different PCs
Same user login
Scanners hooked up with wire
WiFi probably overloaded (300+ people are probably using it)
We get “x” then rescan and then get the checkbox. Sometimes we get “x: twice or thrice. Sometimes we refresh the page and reslect the event in the scan utility and it works fine for three or four then starts “x”ing again.
Trying to find out what the root issue is. Has the ticketing scanning been load tested with multiple events scanning at the same time over really slow bogged down networks?
Also, I noticed we can use the scanner to capture the scanner code to a spreadsheet and avoid using network at all. Is there a way to batch import the spreadsheet to EE to effect check ins?
If the device you’re using to scan isn’t connected to your site at the moment of performing the scans, then you’ll see the issues you’ve described. You will need a solid network connection in order to have a reliable means to communicate with your site. One thing you could do is set up a separate network so the scanning devices can have a uninterrupted connection.
Currently there isn’t a way to batch import check-ins.
Being able to import check ins from a spreadsheet would go a long way to addressing poor internet connections. This is something I have a huge interest in as some of our events are held in network deprived areas. Perhaps a running log held in a file as history and for later resolution when network is available? That would be so great. Where do I suggest this for development?
