I have Event Espresso Premium and I’m having an issue where I am using the “Share” link on the bottom of an event page to post a Facebook post about the event. It works as it should, except it posts a bunch of metadata which I would not like it to post. How can I get it to not post the metadata about the post within a social media share post?
It’s going to depend on the script you’re using to generate the share links. Is the “Share” link being added by another WordPress plugin or the WP theme?
I’m pretty sure I’m not using any plugin to generate share links…I thought the share links at the bottom of the particular posting were from Event Espresso. Check it out:
If you go to that link and then look at the bottom of the content there are some links to share the event. If you click on the Facebook one you’ll see a bunch of extra metadata it puts in there.
EDIT: I also looked at a post and saw it there too, so now I’m realizing that it is probably a question for the theme developer.
I checked and those share links are not added by Event Espresso. Event Espresso does have a social share add-on, but it adds some social share buttons to the last step after finalizing a registration.
I resolved the problem. It was my Open Graph (OG) meta description that I had to update. Thanks for the help though!
