Hi guys,

All messages are sending from my old email address. I have updated my email address to my @lupineart.com addresses, but they still send from my gmail. See:

Also – I do not receive the test emails when they are sent to my @lupineart.com email address. They are not in junk/spam. It’s a gmail account. I do receive the test emails when sent to my @gmail.com account. It says it’s being sent from my @gmail.com account even though no WP user has that email address assigned.

Thanks, Derek

Hi Derek,

Are you using custom message templates or the default templates?

If the default, can you go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default Message templates -> Registration Approved -> Registrant – http://take.ms/0rxPo

What do you see in the ‘To’ field for that message template?

Hi Tony,

It’s

To *: [RECIPIENT_EMAIL]
From *:
[CO_EMAIL]

Hi Derek,

The [CO_EMAIL] email shortcode uses the email address set in Primary Contact Email field on the Event Espresso > General Settings page. Have you updated the email address there?

Hey Josh,

Yes, that was updated. The ‘from’ has been resolved.

On another note, I am not receiving Registration Notifications. When I send a test, I get it. I’m using a custom template. It’s currently set To: [EVENT_AUTHOR_EMAIL]

It shows as being sent in EE -> Messages. It shows as being sent in Tools -> Email Logs.

But, I’m definitely not getting them. I’ve checked my spam folder also.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Derek

Hi Derek,

If it’s not a case where the author of the event is set to a different user account, where the To: field shown in the logs matches your email address, then it’s probably your ISP or email provider blocking the emails from the server. This can happen if your email server is flagged for creating spam. This is not uncommon for shared servers.

If that’s what’s going on, you can use a transactional email service to ensure the emails get delivered:

Ok, I can try that. The thing is that the registrants are getting their notifications just fine, or so it seems anyway. So I thought it is strange that only the admin notifications aren’t making it through.

Thanks, Derek

Hi Josh,

I setup mailgun. I tested an email from the mailgun plugin and it went through OK. I made mailgun ‘active’. I sent a test email from the custom template, and got this error:

The following errors have occurred:
The email did not send successfully.
The WordPress wp_mail function is used for sending mails but does not give any useful information when an email fails to send.
It is possible the “to” address (derekmkaufman@gmail.com) or “from” address (info@lupineart.com) is invalid.

The test message was not sent

One thing that may be important is that info@lupineart.com is not an actual email address, it’s an alias for my derek@lupineart.com email address. Will this affect things?

Any idea where to start on resolving this?

Thanks,

Derek

Side note – I’ve been receiving emails to both of those addresses fine.

It may seem strange that they’re getting the emails and you’re not, but they aren’t likely using your ISP or email service.

One thing that may be important is that info@lupineart.com is not an actual email address, it’s an alias for my derek@lupineart.com email address. Will this affect things?

Yes it may. Can you use a real email address for the From: field?

Hi Josh,

I tried from derek@lupineart.com, which is a real email address. Test email from mailgun plugin goes through OK only when the plugin is NOT ACTIVE (under SMTP settings within Mailgun plugin). When it is set to being ACTIVE, the test emails don’t go through. I don’t get that.

Also, the test email that did go through says it’s from: WordPress <wordpress@lupineart.com> via a2plcpnl0030.prod.iad2.secureserver.net. I have tried the From field in Mailgun to be both of my real email addresses mentioned before, but seems to be ignoring that.

Test from Messages gets same error when Mailgun is activated:

The following errors have occurred:
The email did not send successfully.
The WordPress wp_mail function is used for sending mails but does not give any useful information when an email fails to send.
It is possible the “to” address (derekmkaufman@gmail.com) or “from” address (derek@lupineart.com) is invalid.

The test message was not sent

It is appearing to me this isn’t EE now. Any suggestions on where to start? Note – I manage my DNS with dynonames, but host with godaddy. I have a feeling something is up there…

Thanks so much…

Derek

Hi Derek,

Did you verify your domain with Mailgun?

As far as I know. All green check boxes:

You should probably contact Mailgun for support on that part then.

Resolved. It’s a setting with godaddy – needed to change email routing from local to remote.

Thanks, Derek
