Hi,

We have purchased the MailChimp addon and have a couple of issues.

1) GDPR
By not having the option to allow the customer to choose to opt-in or opt-out to be added to the mailing list we are not compliant with GDPR which is a legal requirement here in the UK.

Could you please tell us if this is something that can be added ourselves or if this is something you plan to add in the future? If this does not support this we will not be able to use this addon.

2) Skip double opt-in
We have checked the checkbox to skip double optin but are still seeing the emails being sent to our customers and this seems to be ignored. Has something changed on this or are we not doing something correctly?

With the current version of EE4/MailChimp you would need to use an additional checkbox question and make it required, so you then use that as a consent checkbox but as it is required it means all of your registrants need to opt-in to continue.

If you leave the double opt-in emails enabled the user then has the option to not opt into the Mailchimp list by simply ignoring the double opt-in email they’ll receive, that will allow you to comply with GDPR.

We do have plans to add a true ‘opt-in’ checkbox to the MailChimp add-on but do not have an ETA on a release for that just yet.

The double opt-in feature is through MailChimp themselves, when we subscribe the user set a ‘status’ based on the double opt-in which will be either ‘pending’ (awaiting dobuel opt-in confirmation) or ‘subscribed’ (skipped double opt-in).

So when you say they are still receiving the emails, do you mean the opt-in emails?

Are you using a new/unique email when testing this?
