If an event is full, we put the new registrations by default on the waitlist. However I see that there is no e-mail message sent tot those people. Is that by design? Why is this? It would be more logic that there is also an e-mail sent to the client with a message that we have received their registration, but that they are on a waitlist. Is there a way to manage this with Event Espresso? Thank you for all your help. |

September 13, 2023 at 11:13 am Hi there, There is an email sent by default. The waitlist adds the ‘Registration Added To Wait List Notification’ message type into Event Espresso and that is triggered when a user adds a waitlist registration. Go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default Message Templates. Look for ‘Registration Added To Wait List Notification’, do you see something like this: |

Hello Tony |

In the Messages section, go to the Settings tab. In the email section, does it show up in the active messages? |
|
Hello Tony, no I have far less options there. See schreenshot: https://pevaz.be/wp-content/uploads/2023-09-13_22h13_10.png You have 20 message types, I have only 13? |
|
It very mush depends on which add-ons you have active, some add their own message types. Looking over your site it appears you don’t have the waitlist add-on active, above your opening post is regarding waitlist registrations? Can you add some details on what your seeing happening on your site? |
|
I did not knew that you need to add the waitlist plug-in to have these default messages. We don’t want to use the automatic features. Only that people receive an e-mail. I have now added the plugin, and these message types were indeed added. Thank you for your help. |

Hallo Tony, I have tested the last couple of days with the waitlist feature. If an event is full, we change the event so that the default status is ‘waitinglist’. However, on this occasion no mail is sent to the registrant. Is this normal behaviour? If we manually change a registrant to waitlist and check to option to sent the mail messages, then the mail message is sent without any problem. |

Hmm, ok so that’s not how the waitlist function was intended to be used (I realise that may sound unintuitive but I’ll explain). The registration status of ‘waitlist’ is built into Event Espresso core itself and allows you you to set registrations to it etc, but it’s not a waitlist manager feature, it’s just a status. That’s what the Waitlist add-on is for, it manages waitlist registrations, triggers notifications etc. When an event it ‘full’ it should switch to have a status of sold out, when that happens the Waitlist add-on takes over to manage waitlist registrations. Creating registrations with a status of waitlist using a DRS of ‘waitlist’ is not how they are expected to be used. May I ask why you aren’t using the add-on functionality?
The waitlist messages which the waitlist add-on added, right? Thats happening because the waitlist add-on is monitoring for waitlist registions and triggering notification. |

Hello Tony, thanks for the clarification. This was indeed not clear to me. But maybe a strange question, but how do I set an event as sold out without lowering the numbers for an event date. Some clarification from our side: I hope this makes it clear what we like to achieve. |

Can you check if this setting solved your problem?
You might want to change your default status to cater your requirements. Here’s what happen and the notice if they purchase one. thanks |

This indeed solved it. I never paid attention that there was a general status on WordPress level. |

Awesome. Have a wonderful day! |
