I’m currently running event espresso to get people to signup for a free event – no payment at this stage.
Most registrations are going through ok – but I just got an email from someone saying when they clicked register it came up with an error about a lack of primary record.
I can’t reproduce this error in anyway – I can see their registration in the backend but it claims it has been abandoned.
I see someone else’s has also been abandoned. But some registations have gone through ok.
Does anyone know what might be causing this? I don’t know if that’s the exact wording of the error as it only came from a user.
Thanks for the reply.
It’s hosted on our own servers. There’s no caching in this WordPress installation at all. I wondered if there may be php caching at server level – but I can’t see any installed.
One thing I have noticed – the IP address and useragent are missing for both the orders that were abandoned (including the order where this user reported the error message) . Could this be a reason? All the successful orders have an IP address attached to them. Is there a possibility that if they are on a corporate network, somehow this information isn’t being passed to our server?
A valid Primary Registration for this Transaction could not be found
Which could be from a JavaScript error that’s only thrown when using a specific browser.
Can you ask them which browser/OS they are using or even better ask them to get the specific details from supportdetails.com?
What might be happening here is there’s some JavaScript on the page that’s throwing an error on some browsers (but not all browsers). If we know the browser they were using it will help narrow down the cause of the issue.
