Once i installed the plug-ins, and while am trying to figure out how it works, every time i try to click “events” this message show up “You do not have access to this route.”

While browsing the plug-in setting pages, i get this message on top:
“Event Espresso recommends PHP version 5.4.33 or greater for optimal performance. You are currently running version 5.3.24.
In order to update your version of PHP, you will need to contact your current hosting provider.
For information on stable PHP versions, please go to http://php.net/downloads.php.”

the thing is, First I didn’t notice any warning before i paid. secondly my host is Godaddy and they are supposed to be up to date, the thing is, is there any other solution other than going to the host and asking them to update?

Hi Khalid,

Are you logged in as an admin when you get the “You do not have access to this route” message?

On the PHP version recommendation, Event Espresso 4 will run on 5.3.24, but PHP version 5.4.33 or greater is more secure. Please see the requirements page for more info:

Hi there Khalid,

That message will appear if you are logged out of your site and then try to directly browse to an Event Espresso page in your WP dashboard.

Try these steps:

1) Log out of your WP dashboard.

2) Then log back in and try browsing again to one of the screens.

Another possibility is a bad install. For example, if the plugin was manually installed via FTP or SFTP , then some files may have not transferred.

If this was a manual install, then try a reinstall by removing the existing plugin and reinstalling through the WP dashboard.

Hello Lorenzo,

the 10 plugins were installed as is using wordpress as a zip file. NO manual instillation was preformed using FTP

I tried the following:
– logging in and logging out
– upgraded my host account in godaddy to PHP 5.4

but both ended up with the same issue

i also cannot see the “Events” tab in the menu at the left, i have to go to the plug-ins page and scroll down till i click on “events” which direct me to the following link where i get the error message

http://mydomain.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=espresso_events

this is the page where i get the message, i can access setting pages for the plug in but i cannot access “events” page as an admin.

i can also access the public list “which is empty” but it seems working.

still confused, where could be the issue

I just tried deleting the core plug-in and uploading it again and activating it, still the issue was not resolved

Hi Khalid,

Are there any plugins on this site that have been set up to add restrictions to the WordPress administrator user role?

Hi Khalid,

Is the WordPress installation on a multisite or is it a single installation?

Can you try deactivating all other plugins except EE (the core EE plugin) and see if that changes anything please?

Hi Khalid,

Can you go to Event Espresso > Maintenance, then click the Reset/Delete Data tab? Then you click the button that says “Reset Event Espresso Capabilities” button.

Hi Dean,

I’m not sure what you mean by multisite installation, but i used the quick set-up that godaddy provide for wordpress. and i have two wordpress sites, each one is installed with a different url

I tried your suggestion, deactivated all plug-ins and it did not work and i got the same message

Hi Josh,

I don’t see “event express” anywhere to click on.

what i see is “events” in the “At a glence” which is located in the dashboard main page

also in plug-ins list, i can see the “events” to click on it beside settings.

both direct me to the same page with the same error message

I can provide one of the support staff access to my dashboard until this issue is resolved if that’s what is required to get this thing working

Hi Khalid,

Access to the WordPress admin may not be enough to find out why your WordPress site isn’t displaying or allowing access to Event Espresso. We’ll need FTP and or phpmyadmin access to check the usermeta table as well. If that’s possible, you can send those credentials via the secure form here:

https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

Josh, the information for the wordpress and FTP credentials are sent via the form you provided

wow josh, looks great so far, what was the problem if you don’t mind sharing?

I wouldn’t mind sharing if I knew. I suspect another plugin that was active when Event Espresso was first activated may have played a role, but I don’t know. Resetting the capabilities on the maintenance page fixed it though.
