Something has changed in our registration system. When I set a class to the maximum size, it will automatically close off registrations if we reach the maximum confirmed/approved registrations.
The system is now closing off based on the registrations – whether they are approved or not. In the example below, for the Mar 12th course, I have 20 seats available and only 17 confirmed registrations but the system has changed the status of the event to SOLD OUT because there are three incomplete registrations. It seems like the SOLDS and REGS columns have been reversed. If you look at the events for the early dates, the SOLD seats are lower than the REGS numbers – which is how it should be.
The system actually should close off sales based on ticket reservations, which are temporary (and set to a timer). How that works is when a transaction is in progress, their ticket selections will be reserved for a few hours. When the transaction gets finalized without paying (i.e. they use an invoice payment option or similar), the ticket reservations get removed and those tickets are released back to the inventory. If the transaction gets abandoned before paying or finalizing, the tickets will be released back to inventory when the timer counts down to 0.
The above process prevents overselling. If you go to Event Espresso > Transactions then look at the Failed Transactions, are there Transactions in progress?
That’s very frustrating. Our developers and Josh are making improvements towards this issue. I think they’ve had some success and the code is being reviewed. We should be releasing an update shortly.
