I’m getting this error message: But it does appear that the transactions are going thru on PayPal, so the purchasher get a failed message and then tries again, and at least one instance I had to refund because they purchased twice. What can I do? Thank you. |
Hi Paul,
Looks like an issue during the DNS lookup, which is most likely an issue with your server configuration. Are you using EE4? If so Id first recommend switching to PayPal Express, it uses the same account type as PayPal standard but needs different crednetials from your account: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/paypal-express-payment-gateway/#locate PayPal Express works differently and doesn’t use IPN’s (which are known for being unreliable). PayPal Standard was phased out of EE a while ago for that very reason but we left is working as usual for users that had it set up already. |

thanks Tony, I have followed the instructions. When I test the payment using PayPal Express, I get this message: An error has occurred: |
Hi Paul, If you’re absolutely sure the API credentials entered in Event Espresso > Payment Settings > PayPal Express are correct and complete, then the other possibility is Debug Mode On? is set to Yes. In which case you’ll need to change that to No, then save the settings. |

No, Debug Mode is set to No. |
When exactly do you get that error? Is it when selecting PayPal Express from the payment options or when clicking to be directed to PayPal? That error is shown when no payment object could be created, which only happens when either the credentials are incorrect, or your server could not connect to PayPal at all (which would tie in with your opening post). If you go to Event Espresso -> Payment methods -> Logs Do you see entries for PayPal Espress there? |
|
|
This happens after you select PayPal Express and then click on the Proceed to Finalize Registration button. Yes it does show up on the logs, Gateway Response: 10002; Security error |
Ok, that error only happens for 2 reasons. Either the credentials in use are incorrect, space at the beginning/end of a field or the details are in the wrong fields. Or, Live credentials have been used but the payment method is in debug mode and sending the request to sandbox (or vice versa). Can you please double check the credentials in use are correct and that your are using a live account when the payment method is not in debug mode (I know you mention it isn’t above, but as that’s the only 2 reasons for the above error could double/triple check please?) |
