We are using a custom gateway that was build for EE3. We recently started having problems with the payments not going through and getting an Invalid Credentials 4025 error. We are running WordPress 4.1.1. I have put Event Espresso in Demo mode and am still getting the same error. There were some SSL content errors before, but they have been fixed with the SSL Fixer plug-in. Please advise. Thank you. |
Hi Dave, ‘Invalid Credentials 4025 error’ sounds like an error being thrown from your gateway provider rather than Event Espresso. Which custom gateway are you using? |
Thank you for the reply. We are using Virtual Merchant. |
I would start by double checking your credentials within the payment gateway. Check for whitespace before/after the details and re-save the details. Have you contacted the original gateway author for them to investigate this? |
No. I have not contacted them. We just the support license renewed and I wasn’t sure what support was included with it, so I started with the forums. I will check the credentials and make sure nothing was changed with it since we started this a year ago. |
We (Event Espresso) can not support code/add-ons/gateways that we did not write as we don’t know the code. However I did a little digging into that error and found this: https://www.myvirtualmerchant.com/VirtualMerchant/download/developerGuide.pdf If you search for 4025 on page 44 (which is actually page 55) you’ll find this – http://take.ms/IKPql And further down – http://take.ms/4OaSj It looks like either the credentials supplied within the gateway settings are incorrect, or the gateway is using them incorrectly. Check the details entered are the valid details for Virtual Merchant, (I’m unsure if you can recreate new credentials with that gateway, but if so try creating a new set of credentials and applying those) if that fails you’ll need to contact either Virtual Merchant support and see if they can point out any issues, or the developer who created the gateway. Hope that help 🙂 |

The Gateway was written by Event Espresso as a custom gateway. We are verifying the credentials with Virtual Merchant company now. Thank you for your help. |
Ah ok, I’m sorry I didn’t realise this was a custom gateway we had created. If you could check the credentials are all correct with Virtual Merchant I’ll setup a test site with this gateway and run some test. Are you using the latest version of EE3? (currently 3.1.37.1.p) |
Not a problem. We verified the credentials with Elavon and the information is correct in the payment gatway settings. We are using 3.1.38.0 custom. So no, we are not using the update. |
Hi there Dave, thanks for clarifying that we developed this payment gateway. I setup a copy of the version of Event Espresso that has the Elavon (MyVirtualMerchant) payment gateway on a test site with our demo credentials for Elavon and it processed as expected: http://cl.ly/image/2E250n1B3d2Z I also checked the 4025 error code in that API docs and this is related to incorrect credentials. If I understand you original post correctly, this was working as expected and recently started showing this error. Were there any recent changes to the merchant account around this time? — |
It was working as expected beforehand. This is first time we have had problems since putting it into production. The only changes was WordPress was upgraded to 4.1.1. We just added a couple of events for June and then started getting emails about people not being able to register. There were some SSL errors due to some of the fonts, but we installed SSL Fixer for WordPress and it took care of those. However, we were still having problems. We verified the information is correct through Elavon and there are extra white spaces in the payment settings for the gateway. |
Hi, My test site also has a current version of WordPress running. Do you have a link available to any event on your site? Also, have you already tested with only Event Espresso running to rule out a conflict on the site? The next step would be temporarily substituting in our own test credentials but I want to ensure that something else isn’t happening here. — |
Here’s a link to the event. |
Thanks, I received this error when trying to register: Sorry, there was a security error and your registration was not saved. Is this site running on a host that has caching enabled (e.g. managed WP hosting) or were you recently using any caching plugins such as W3 total cache or WP Super Cache? — |
WP Super Cache is being used on the site. |
Hi Dave, please setup exclusion rules for your Event Espresso 3 pages through WP Super Cache. On a default install the slugs for these pages for Event Espresso 3: /event-registration/ Then clear the cache and reply here so we can try again. https://eventespresso.com/wiki/setup-nocache-exclusion-rules-event-espresso/ — |
I’ve added those pages to the exclusion rules. |
Hi, I was able to reach the checkout page but it showed the 4025 error. We would like to test with our credentials. Could you share a temporary login via this form? https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/ — |
I have sent the information via the form. |
Thanks. I’ve sent an update via email. — |
We are looking back into the credentials with Elavon and also the SSL certificate from the hosting company. We also used the credentials for the Membership account and it failed also with the same error. |
Thanks. Do let us know what you find out from Elavon. — |
