Hi,
I am using EE Version 3.1.36.6.P
and we are allowing for group registrations for our events.
There is a big event coming up where we want to make use of badges with QR codes for each participant. So in the registration form the user can register multiple participants, and for each participant the user should be able to specify individual info, e.g. special diet etc.

This leads me to 2 main questions:

1) Customized Attendee Registration info possible?
There is a drop-down field in the event options called “Additional Attendee Registration info?” But there, I can only choose from
– No info required
– Personal information only
– Full registration information

How can I create a customized Attendee Registration info (offering fields like “special diet” etc), being able to select it eventually in this drop-down list under “Additional Attendee Registration info?”

2) QR-Code generation for each participant possible?
Once the user has registered himself together with additional attendees via the group registration process, the system should provide individual QR-codes for each single participant of this registration process. So that the QR-code contains also these special infos like “special diet” etc.
Is this possible?

Thanks, Thomas

Hi Thomas,

If you have a valid support licence please log into the account with it and reply from there.

To answer you:

1) Go to Questions and add all the custom questions you need. Then go to Question Groups and create 1 or more new groups and assign the custom questions appropriately.

Then in the event, you can select the question groups for the Primary and/or Additional attendees.

Please note, while the primary attendee can have different question groups to the additional attendees, all additional attendees will be shown the groups you selected, so you can’t have question group for additional attendee A and a different one for additional attendee B.

See here for info on questions and question groups:

2) Short answer is no. The QR code contains very basic data associated with that registration, and is used mainly for logging the attendees in. In theory it can be customised, but this would require modifications to the core plugin which we do not recommend, nor support.

Hi Dean,

thanks for your prompt reply.
Please let me outline the process of the upcoming big event:
it is a 3 days symposium in Dublin with several (half day or full day) trips to various places around Dublin the participants can choose from.

The ~400 attendees will provide all required info via the registration form:
– arrival time
– hotel room booking and preferences
– food requirements (special diet etc)
– which trips they will take part in

The EE app and the QR code scanning feature is really great, but as far as I understand, there is none of this attendee data (described above) accessible via the app. It’s just providing few basic registration records, just for logging in to the event, right?

The event officers will be continuously in contact with the participants, also probably several times with one single person over those 3 days. Checking if they registered for a particular trip etc.

So, having the option to scan their barcode, getting all attendee data would be great, but not possible, as far as I understood.

What’s the alternative?
Generating an Excel sheet with all attendees’ data provided during the registration process, is that possible?

I need to get back to the customer, telling them if all of the above is feasible with EE.

Thanks for letting me know!
Thomas

Hi Dean,
yes, I have an EE3 Business License which includes support according to my account details…I am surprised you are asking, as I thought this shows up in my user records when I logged into the forum via my account. Regards, Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Not sure what happened there, your account was showing as a basic user. It appears to be fine now, so apologies for that.

Regarding the QR code, it might be possible to add that data in (there’s a code filter that looks feasible though I haven’t yet tried it), but you would not be able to access it via the standard EE mobile app.

EE3 can certainly provide an spreadsheet for you, go to Event Overview, hover over an event and click Attendees, then click the Export to Excel button below the attendee table.
