Site is running a recent upgrade to EE4. We were generally happy using EE3 and Paypal, but are experiencing a new issue.

When user register and pays successfully with Paypal, system may or may not send us a Registration Confirmation email. So even though we know someone has paid via Paypal, we are not always receiving all the other info needed. This is especially difficult to untangle when a user registers multiple participants or if their Paypal account has a different name. Bottom line: we need those reg. confirmation emails to be consistent.

I have already implemented the simplified transaction page template you recommend in another thread, but the issue has persisted for weeks now.

Can you recommend a course of action? Client would like this resolved so EE4 works at least as good as EE3.

Hi, the simplified transaction template isn’t used in Event Espresso 4.

Can you confirm that the PayPal IPN is running on your site?

The registration emails are set out once the PayPal IPN has updated the Event Espresso about the transaction.

Paypal IPN is indeed configured for correct URL and IPN is enable.

If it helps, site is hosted on GoDaddy (cpanel site, not managed WordPress).

Alright, could you take a look at the recent transactions in the transactions overview screen within your WP dashboard?

Are those showing a paid when you click on then and view the payment details?

It sounds like the emails are mostly working with a few not arriving so I’m wondering if those were flagged as SPAM / junk mail.

Payments seem to be registering on the backend as complete and paid. Just no email reg. confirmation arriving.

We will look into Junk/Spam. Are there possible explanations other than that?

(Clarification: most emails are arriving and some are not, as you stated above.)

When looking at these registration, what is the Registration status?

Also what is the Transaction status?

The payment itself shows as Accepted (so has a green status bar) correct? Like this – http://take.ms/i3395

That is a ‘Complete’ transaction with a Declined payment (red status bar) and an Accepted payment (green status bar)

In a recent case, the registration was approved and the transaction was complete.

The client really wants to receive these emails and claims they are not arriving in any bulk or spam folder.

Mail servers are via GoDaddy, if that helps.

It sounds like some emails may be getting marked as spam.

I would recommend using a service such as Mandill to send your transactions emails. It is free up to 12k emails per month and MUCH more reliable than your web hosts mail server.

More information can be found here:

Also to confirm, are you using the laster version of EE4? Currently 4.6.24.p

We made the upgrade to 4.6.25 today. We’ll see if it makes a difference.

I will explore Mandrill and continue to monitor the issue.
