Ok so I have searched through this support forum for a fix and have tried everything possible but still have no fix. I have the IPN setup at PayPal My issue is that the system says that the transaction is incomplete but it shows completed in Paypal. Also it is not showing the transaction type under attendee/s It was not working before and i had an older version of EE3 so I paid for a license and upgraded to the latest version but its still the same. I currently have 2 events running on my site and will struggle to piece all of this together the longer this goes on without a fix. Can anyone help out on this? Hi Hugo, Thanks for the detailed report. Can you FTP into your site, go to /wp-content/uploads/espresso/logs and check to see if there’s a PayPal IPN log file there. If there is, can you check for errors? |
Yes there is a file called: paypal.ipn_results.log There is lots of info in there but here is the last one: [05/01/2015 7:37 PM] – Errors from IPN Validation: Using BUILT-IN PHP curl methods Success Setting host: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr

Hi Hugo, In the future, please do not post information like this in a public forum. Instead of spending time helping people, we end up having to remove sensitive info. So there’s no errors there. Are the transactions eventually updating to Completed in the WP admin? |
Ok thanks sorry about that. lesson learned. The transactions are not updating to completed and it does not show the transaction type so i do not know if they have paid through PayPal or by direct Bank Transfer! Any ideas? |
Hi Hugo, Could you try the following test? 1) Create an event called test with a single ticket / pricing option with a low value such as a dollar or less. 2) Then deactivate all plugins on your site and only activate Event Espresso. Next, open an alternative web browser and go to the event called test on your site. 3) Now try to register. Does it update as expected with your payment details? Be sure to restore your plugins after testing. — |

yes this worked. Im guessing this is a plugin conflict then! |
Strange! It worked when I created new event and de-activated all plugins except for EE. I then turned on each needed plugin one by one and tested and it worked so I assumed that ruled out it being a plugin conflict. I then decided to re-create the event again from fresh and it now does not work!! I de-activated all plugins and tested by purchasing but still no data. There is another issue where you cannot enter a long title for more tickets as it does not update and cancels them! Confused *~* Regards Hugo |
Hi Hugo, could you provide a link to the event that isn’t working? — |
Hi Lorenzo, I figured it out and now got it working. There is an issue with the system not accepting long titles for the pricing name. If it is long the system just deletes that pricing option when you update. This was in the back of my mind and when I created the new event it just had a short title called TEST and it worked. So I shortened the title of the event and tested and it worked then i gave it a long name again and it didn’t work. I done this several times and determined this was the issue. I now have a title shorter than 30 characters. Im not sure what the exact length is but that is the issue. So to clarify the issue occurs when I have a long title for the event name and also for the pricing title. HAPPY ๐ Best Hugo |
Hi Hugo, The event name field in Event Espresso 3.1.37.2 has a 200 character limit, and price names have a 150 character limit. Were the event name and price names you tried before longer than that? |
No previously it was 46 Characters long for the event title and now it is only 29. |
Can you try deactivating, then reactivating the Event Espresso plugin? It may be the database update script didn’t run when the update was made. |
Ok thanks. It is working at the moment so i do not want something to happen if i do this as I have 2 events running. Once these events have passed I will do this and test again with a longer name and see if that works. Even better still I will upgrade to EE4 for my next events ๐ |
Can you let me know if there were there any special characters in the event name before it was shortened? |
Hi Hugo, You can also update to Event Espresso 3.1.37.3.p. It includes a fix for when PayPal IPN is not completing the event payment status under certain conditions. |
