hi, is it possible to include event details like venu, date, people in a newsletter
or is there another possibility to do this? we want send to registrants a reminder mail a couple of days before the event. and a follow up mail a couple of days after the event… wit some details automacially included in the mail

I think you could do this with the custom message templates. You could make both emails in there, use the shortcodes for the EE and then i think there is an option to send emails to registrants.

I saw a newsletter message type in my EE when i looked. Just use that to create a custom one. It shouldnt be overwritten then when you update EE.

I think messages like ‘registration’ and ‘payment received’ are triggered automatically. So we can’t use a custom template of these to send at a chosen moment.
with a ‘newsletter’ this would be possible, but no event details can be included automatically in the newsletters

Whilst messages are triggered automatically, you can also trigger them manually.

Registration message such as ‘Registration Approved’, ‘Registration Pending Payment’ etc go out automatically when the registration is set to the relevant status however again you can trigger those manually if needed.

‘Payment’ related messages can be triggered manually, but you wouldn’t use those for your use case.

To answer your initial question you currently can not pull in event related details within the Newsletter messages, originally with the way the newsletter message type was designed it wasn’t possible at all however we are working on changing how the message type works to allow for those details. (Won’t be available ‘quickly’).

To use the Newsletter message type with event details you would need to manually build a custom newsletter message template that has the event specific information hard coded into the template. Then select the template you created for that event for the correct registrations.

What about using a custom Registration Approved message template (which has all of the event detail shortcodes available), setting that custom template to be used for the event and then manually triggering the Registration Approved message template for the attendees.

Would that work for you?
