Hey Guys!
Just tried the Importer. I’m getting the error: HTTP ERROR 500. It only allowed me to select my event. When i hit next, I get a blank page in Edge and a HTTP ERROR 500 in Chrome.

Hi there,
Error 500 is a general error shown on the site when a fatal error is thrown, well.need the full error to troubleshoot this further.
If you take a look in your hosts control panel do you have a section to view errors? if so can you see any from EE there?

Sorry for the delayed response…long story. I’ll take a look and see what I can find. I use Blue Host, if that helps any…

Another option is to add this code to your site wp-config.php file:
https://eventespresso.com/wiki/troubleshooting-checklist/#wpdebug
You’ll have something like define( 'WP_DEBUG', false ); there already, so that block replaces that single line.
What that does is tell your site to store any errors to /wp-content/debug.log so then you test the importer again to get the error and check that file to see the full error logged.

What you’ve posted looks like an access log (not an error log). What could be happening is a mod security rule being triggered, which is something your host may be able to adjust. Can you contact your web host to see if they can investigate the mod security settings?

Scratch that… Blue Host knew what to do; I hope. They white listed the URL and my IP address. Hopefully that does the trick. I’ll know if about an hour.

Ok…so my host is trying to whitelist the URLs, but at no success. Is there anything you can tell me that will help them? Here are the URLs they’ve listed:

I am, however, a little curious on what Bluehost changed. Did they provide any more details? For example which PHP version was running on the server and then which version did they switch to?
