ICS file works fine on Mac but creates an invitation to an event in Outlook PC

Hi, my client has tried clicking the ICS file on a random event and his Outlook on PC asks to save the ICS file. When he saves it, it creates an invitation to an event instead of giving him the opportunity to add the event onto his calendar like it does on my Mac.

What’s your take on it?

Maybe have your client try importing the event? http://help.unc.edu/help/how-to-import-an-icalendar-ics-file-to-outlook/

Actually, I’ve noticed on other threads that you’ve been working on an “Add to Outlook” button for the calendar.

Is it eventually coming soon?

Or do you have a workaround, tweaking code or something so it works with Outlook?

Hello, we do not have an estimate on when functionality for an add to outlook button will be available.

Hi, my client has done some tests and found that if they removed line 7 “Organizer:MAILTO:6” on the .ics file code, then it will insert an event directly into an Outlook calendar and not create an invitation instead as it currently does.

They’ve checked other websites that provide .ics files to add events to a calendar and none of them have this line in the code of the file.

Is there anything we can comment out or remove on any of the EE4 files in relation with the above-mentioned to help us make this .ics file work as expected?

If yes, which file and what code?

Also, it might be something to consider for your dev team as a future release.

Hello,

We’ve corrected this issue in Event Espresso 4.9.31 which was released today.

The issue was that one of the data sources was incorrect and you can update Event Espresso to fix this issue.
