Hi there,

We’re adding an ICS calendar file to EE4 event messages via the [ICAL_LINK_*] shortcode.

When a user receives the message, downloads, and opens the file on a mac, the event is added to their Apple calendar as expected.

When a PC user opens the file, instead of adding the event to their calendar directly, a new email is opened with an empty “To” field. It looks like some kind of reply or confirmation related to the event.

As mentioned in this closed thread, I found the file included the following line: ORGANIZER:MAILTO:34.

If I were guessing, I would think an ID was being used in place of an email address there. Removing this line caused the event to be added to Outlook calendar on double-clicking the file as expected.

Do you have any advice about a fix for this?

Note that the file can be imported to the calendar instead of double-clicking, but our requirement is that the file should be added on opening the file.

Thank you!

Tony

Hi Eric,

I tested this and don’t get the same results.

For me there is no difference when ORGANIZER is included within the ics and when its not when I open up the file I get the same appointment screen each time – http://take.ms/kDLTQ

I also get that same screen when testing the ICS generate elsewhere.

Which version of outlook are you using?

There is an issue with that field as its outputting the datetime ID and we’ll get that fixed.
