I am an Event Planner and have many different Clients. I was going to purchase one license for my WP site and create a separate event registration page for each of my 8 clients. Then i got thinking, I do not want to allow one client to be able to login and see the other 7 client’s events in the back-end. Plus, each client will have their own different paypal account to accept payments. Can I keep each client’s info separate from the other clients?. If so, how best to do this and do i need another add on to buy? Thanks! |

Hi, This would be possible with EE3. You would need the Roles and Permissions Basic and the Roles and Permissions Pro addons. You would need to add the clients as users and have their Roles set to Event Manager. Any event they create (they must create them, they cannot be assigned) will only be accessible to them. You can instruct them to add a custom (meta) field called paypal_email with the value of their PayPal payment email and it will set the payment email to that for that event. This will NOT work with Multiple Event Registration. See the Per Event Settings here for more info: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/payment-settings-ee3/#PayPal YOu would also need to advise them to set a category for each event to something that is unique to them (client name perhaps). This will allow you to use shortcodes to separate the events on the front end. More info Roles and Permissions Basic: https://eventespresso.com/product/espresso-permissions-basic/ Roles and Permissions Basic is included with the Business Licence but Roles and Permissions Pro is only available with the Developers licence or purchased separately. If you have any questions, please let me know. |

Thanks Dean, A concern that I have is that EE3 is being replaced with EE4 and that in time EE3 will not be supported. Will EE4 not be able to do this? |
|
Hi, We are still supporting EE3 for the time being, but you are correct in that EE4 will supersede EE3. Can it be done with EE4? Yes and no. Currently EE4 has the underlying code base to allow for something like this, but we do not yet have a plugin that you can use to make it easy to handle. What this means is that if you don’t mind using a thirdparty roles and permissions plugin and setting it up yourself, then yes EE4 can handle it. Take a look at this documentation: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/event-espresso-4-roles-permissions/ EE4 does not support different gateways/paypal accounts per event. This is something we are looking into but no timescale has been set on this being added. |

Thank-you. So it seems EE3 is the way to go for what I need. When EE4 can do the same, will I be able to upgrade to it without any issues? What I mean is, lets say I have done 7 different registration pages for each one of my clients and then EE3 is done with and replaced with EE4. Will it be a simple upgrade for me to go from EE3 to EE4 and not lose any of my client’s pages and info? Once EE4 supports different payment gateways, then I think EE4 is the way to go? for what i need. The barcode scanning of the event tickets is another feature we would like to offer our clients and I see that both EE3 and EE4 offers this. I just do not want to have any issues moving from EE3 to EE4 when EE4 finally gets everything that we need and EE3 is fully replaced with EE4. I am scared with the fact EE3 is going to be dead one day and I cant update it. So I need to know that going from EE3 to EE4 will be a simple migrate and we will not notice any problems with existing EE3 registration pages etc. Do I have this right? |
Hello GM, here is feedback on your questions. We are currently planning on supporting Event Espresso 3 and maintaining support with the current version of WordPress. You can begin with Event Espresso 3 and then upgrade in the future. Information like events and attendees/registrants will be migrated to the latest. There are certain things that won’t transfer such as template customizations. For example, if you created a custom event listing page by editing the templates, then that would need to be re-created using the new template system. Event Espresso 4 also has Mijireh available which connects to 70+ payment gateways. Popular payment methods such as PayPal Standard and Authorizenet AIM are already available in the core plugin for Event Espresso 4. There are mobile apps available for Event Espresso 3 and they use the current JSON API add-on. We are currently rewriting the JSON API for Event Espresso 4. Once that is ready, then we’ll revisit mobile apps for Event Espresso 4. At the current time, barcodes are available for Event Espresso 4 only. We do offer some white label options for the mobile apps for Event Espresso 3. — |

Thanks. But I am a bit more confused now. LOL. Are barcodes not on the tickets in EE3? as you have stated that they are only available for EE4. You lost me on that one as i have looked at the addons for EE3 and the barcode scanner and ticketing is available for EE3. Please confirm this. Has anyone used EE3 with a large convention event with 30,000 attendees all registering? Can EE3 handle 20-40 barcode scans a second when 30,000 people are in lines waiting to get into the event and our 16 member staff are scanning everyone quickly so they do not have to wait more than 4 minutes to get into the event? and can i get some answers on this question please? Do I have this right? 2) But with EE3 we can use our iphone as the scanner and no need to buy a scanner. If this is the case, and i see we would have to download the app on to our iphone to be able to do this, would we be able to brand the app? 3) What I mean is, I want the client to be able to go to the app store and download the app with my company name (not know it was from Espresso). {we would set up our own App store to allow our clients to download the app with our branding} This is very important and critical that we are able to do. Thanks for your help guys! Looks like you have a nice WP event plugin but I am still unsure how robust it is and if it can handle my client’s needs and size of events. |

Can someone answer please? |

Has anyone used Event Espresso on a large event (15,000 plus)? Anyone on this forum can answer this. |
Hi, barcodes are only available in Event Espresso 4. They are not available in Event Espresso 3. Mobile apps are also available in Event Espresso 3 but are not currently available for Event Espresso 4. We are rewriting the JSON API which helps with the communication between the mobile apps and your site. Once this is done, then we’ll revisit mobile apps for Event Espresso 4. Shared hosting could not be used with that amount of registrants/attendees. You would need a dedicated server to handle registrations along with check-ins for the event.
If you went with Event Espresso 4, then you would need barcode scanners to check in your attendees/registrants.
We do have some white label solutions available which would allow you to rebrand the mobile apps as your own. If you are interested in hearing more, then please follow up here: — |
